Lol who was that lucky guy that got to try some excellent stuff?

P.s. the best beers in Michigan are from the places no one has heard of.

Dont get me started on regular Blanton's. SFTB is great though.

I really like Blanton’s. When I see it, I buy it. With that being said, I’m not paying over state min and I’m not showing up to a liquor store at dawn. I buy stuff I like to drink it, and we could discuss at length how many other bottles I find equally as good as Blantons for less money and that are easier to find.

Don't recall a name, but he sent me the full allotment of Drafting Table's BA beers (4 16oz cans.) Admittedly, they're fairly rare since I think they only release one barrel of each beer, so getting the 'right eyes' to see a trade request is difficult. For Phil was the first time those requests met the right eyes to make it happen.

Only had it twice. Once was with a coworker who admires whiskey, so it was fun to sip a pour with him. The other time, a new bar in town hadn't priced out their liquor yet, so all the pours were the same price, including doubles. Was difficult not to order Blanton's at that point. SFTB sounds like a better fit for my interests.

If you’re wanting to trade it, it absolutely is. Albeit tougher to find for a decent price.

Agree - it's good but the number of people chasing it to make a quick $40-50 is really silly.

Blantons is (was) my favorite bourbon for a long time, and i dont think ive ever paid more than $55 for it. its a shame to hear that even CVS is jumping on the bandwagon. still have a couple 2018s left, after those are gone i wont be drinking it much anymore :/

i ended up with a big stash a few years ago when if you bought more than 6 it was $48. i handed them out as Xmas gifts that year lol. thats never happening again.

I'd have a more difficult time letting go of a bottle like that. I didn't plan on trading For Phil until I tried it on site. I'm more likely to drink my one-and-only bottle than trade it.

Really glad I didn't buy the bottle at this point. I hadn't seen it before, and was damn tempted. I was surprised it wasn't more in Las Vegas. Figured someone who was up on their play that day may treat themselves.

Hey. Someone needs to be in the pole position. For me, that’s Wax Wings right now. Their barrel aged stouts and barley wines hold up against damn near anyone and their hops and fruited stuff are top notch.

Can anybody here report thoughts on RBBT b2? How's it drinking in comparison to BBT5 or BBT4?

I see a trade for BBT4 IP in my area. Tempted to go for it, but I'm also stoked to try BBT4.

I'll hold until I hear more. I'm super eager to try BBT4.

I was looking on untappd to see how the ratings were coming in - and i was confused too - was like "i guess nobody is drinking it right away..."

    This makes way more sense.

There are reviews out there, it was a sneak preview at that wine and dinner event from last week, added with the dessert. i spoke to someone who went who said it was incredible. We shall see.

also looks like some people got to try unlabeled bottles as well

Can confirm that I have seen this as well. Looked on Untappd yesterday out of curiosity and saw the postings from the wine/dinner event. The checkins from the event have labeled bottles and there are a couple that appear to be separate from the event and those bottles do not have labels. Not all of the posts had a review but the ones that did were positive remarks.

I haven’t had the new batch, but I’ll comment on the first RBBT. It was a great beer and I really enjoyed it. It’s distinctly different from regular BBT. The differences between rye whiskey and bourbon are really on display here. I personally prefer bourbon barrels to rye barrels in stouts, especially with no adjuncts. I’d take regular BBT over RBBT every time if I had to choose. So if you prefer bourbon or rye significantly more than the other, I think your preference will be reflected in the beers as well.

From a practical perspective, you can get another RBBT much easier than getting another BBT4.

I'm leaning towards passing. I was super happy to get BBT4, and have been waiting to do a side-by-side with '20 Maman.

I'm less tied to RBBT since I've never had it, meanwhile, BBT remains one of my all-time favorite beers. That said, I do love rye whiskey, and much prefer it to bourbon, but not enough to sacrifice my chance to try BBT4. Maybe I'll stumble into RBBT on-site some day.

Eager to hear people's thoughts once RBBT is out in the wild.

Well ive heard back from a few reliable buddies, all of them saying RBBT is amazing! might mean that the asking price will rise like DB assassin did, so close those trades if youre after one!

one of my biggest regrets was not closing a trade for db assassin, which in less then week turned into a huge deal

On the other hand, stellar ratings for BBT ‘21 didn’t stop its trade value from tanking. That bottle is still coming down.

There isn't as much correlation between beer tasting good and trade value as you would expect. Some people want a rare thing that no one else has more than they want a delicious thing that lots of people can have. And I'm not shocked at all that RBBT is amazing. Every BBT has been amazing.

yeah i agree, but if a beer sucks it does lose some value. initially, people hated phil and its value dropped alot but it went back up. my example DB assassin is a prime example of a beer having high value, and it doubled after people started to open them

but your right for the most part it dont really matter

Yeah it's not totally unrelated. I remember being ready to trade my left arm for King of Darkness and then it plummeted in value once people tried it. Probably rightfully so. I finally got one and that beer was kind of a mess.

My dumbass bought it off Tavour if that makes you feel any better. Some friends of mine had it twice at this point. The first bottle (with me), was disappointing to say the least. They claimed the second bottle they opened (without me) was much better. So maybe there's hope?
