I haven’t had one of the old ones since last year, but to date the 3 I have had over the last 5 years have been the single best BA coffee stout I have ever had. It’s truly amazing how sublime they are. Yea, I’m a fanboy, but this is one of those things that everyone talks about. I don’t know what is so different about those old ones, but they are really something separate than anything else I have had.

The only SP coffee stout I have had was the derivation with Rum BA, and I really loved that beer too. So, admittedly my ability to compare to SP is limited. I had Somniphobia from BL/VooDoo that was absolutely stellar also, but I think I’d put the old ass BCBCS above that even. It’s just a gem.

I went to smell it and it smelled like straight up coffee. No barrel at all but the fact that the coffee held up actually blew my mind. Wasn’t much oxidation either. It did come from the King’s cellar so obviously they cellared it correctly but damn. Cellar Thursdays will be a regular thing for me from now on

PN15 is excellent but it’s not as good as PN8. PN8 was jammier and less acidic.

Unless I'm missing it somewhere, is there any details on the base of For TWCP? Like, is it a stout or a barleywine or a strong ale, barrels used, base recipes, etc?

20 months in Blanton’s barrels. funny you mention it as it doesn’t really include the fact that it is an imperial stout but i do recall the ig stories referring to it as a stout. that’s about as official as it gets these days lol (assuming ig doesn’t pull the posts)

That label doesn't mention the almonds but in the note from Cory it seemed to be a clear point of emphasis

“…When first brewed, this was the first time we had used almonds in a beer. The flavor of almonds is very hard to extract while using only natural ingredients (no extracts were used in this beer, only real, slivered almonds), so we experimented with "overdosing" the initial beer with almonds and Ghanan Cocoa Nibs and then allowed it to rest in the barrel to soften and develop…”

I'm always fascinated by the number of people that are just 'available' to get a notification and proceed with an order when something like this is unannounced. From posts above, sounds like it was only available for a very short time. I mean, I don't really do social media (and thus don't have notifications), but even if I did...On any given day there's probably only a 30% chance I'd be available. The probability that I'd actually get the notification and see it and have the ability to then pull the trigger so quick is a much smaller percentage.

I'm just glad this time they only packaged it with one saison instead of 3. It's ridiculous to pay $200 for 3 white labels and a 375mL stout.

Can’t speak for everyone, but my work essentially requires me to have my phone within hands reach at all times, so it’s not unusual for me personally to see these things pop up and be able to react quickly, particularly with Instagram post notifications turned on. Only takes one to two minutes tops before I’m back to business.

I work from home - 2 computers, phone around me. I’m not working every minute and it’s unusual that I miss a notification unless IG is being funky.

For me it comes down to do I care enough about the beers plus what goes into it - the race to buy, finding a proxy, etc.

Here it was reasonable, but ultimately not worth it to me. I’m not one that needs and or wants to chase every beer so I’ll live another day.

Anyone know what the breakdown was price-wise for the Terminus package? Couldn’t find an itemized cost for each bottle anywhere. Safe to assume $40 for Terminus and $35 for Crusher?

That is correct. Both bottles of Terminus were $40/each to la coterie.
