From the email, I’d imagine, timing-wise, OWK pours probably gonna start during stout week? Just my 100% non-evidence based guess :grimacing:

what’s OWK going to be this time around… sounds like they’re making a special glass for it, the box is probably a thing.. $125 just like MJK?

Doubtful. People are coming for Stout Week anyway. Makes more sense to do it another week to drive business during what would be a lower sales period. And while Stout Week shouldn't be a shitshow, it probably would be if OWK was available.

I was fully expecting it to be double barreled this time around. Curious to see comparing opinions from those who had Double Willett Double Vanilla Derivation fresh.

Well they would want to have a knock out beer if they were going out wide. If I never had an sp beer before and I ordered blueberry Flanders off tavour, I’m not sure I’d be amped to go after another beer, atleast the most recent batch

SP stouts are usually a no-brainer for me but at $50 for a 375, gotta pass. For those that buy it, enjoy! I'm sure it will be great.

I'm not always great at detecting sarcasm, so maybe this was sarcastic. I just assumed that meant, "Please drink fresh (insert favorite joke here about them pulling old adjuncted beers from their cellar)".

They are most definitely calling out the vial boys. I know a guy whose friend brought a near full resealed bottle back to Atlanta from the initial 2018 on-site release to share with people.

Quick tasting notes, OWK b2 has more barrel notes than b1. As the beer warms to appropriate serving temp it is up there with the best vanilla stouts. Balanced with a smooth, velvety body. I don't think you can ask for anything more.

And side by side with MJK was pretty cool..

Last two times I've gone to SP, I vialed some to take back to CA :joy:. Felt like it tasted fine, some of the stuff at SP is served still/uncarbed anyway. Was able to save MJK, DB Derivation Vanilla, 8 Candles, 6 Candles, D12, DB Anabasis for my friend lol.

I think Alex Kidd is hilarious. I bet he would be fun drinking company. I love how breweries send him beer and then he gives honest reviews and doesn’t just do free advertising for them. And his stream of consciousness reviews reminds me of Bill Simmons’ writing when he was at ESPN.

agree here. don’t hate him by any means. don’t even know him outside of stuff friends send me (and that’s an online personality) but it’s all self deprecating BS addressed to a crowd he doesn’t himself seem like he’s even a part of.

I’ll agree that his verboseness and deep cut memes are not for everyone, but if you listen to his podcast he’s clearly very intelligent and well spoken when it comes to all things beer. He’s a lawyer I believe. A lot of the top brewers have been on his podcast and he’s raised upwards of $100k for charity through beer raffles. He’s pretty respected in the community as far as I can tell.
