Does anyone else miss the Side Project saisons being sour? I’ve drank several recent white labels lately and they all seem to just kind of taste a bit like oak and then it’s over. I miss the sour twang you’d get on the back end. Maybe it’s just me idk

You might be the first person to say that in a long time

I suspect that’s is crazy a lot of these saisons are the base for their fruited sours that they had to reel them back so the fruit addition isn’t too sour

it’s been my experience that it varies lately. pretty much all the white labels (plus la ruche, sdf pinot) have been trending less sour for a couple years now. i had a Merci b5 a couple weeks ago which had to have been in bottle for close to 2 years at that point at is was still sour AF. new PdF was sourer than owl piss. even Soleil had grown more sour since having back in the spring. so you can definitely still get your sour fix, guess you just have to pick the right bottle.

personally, i love the way the white labels have been trending. the newest SdF is near perfect for me. the last 2-3 SdF Pinots have been great. i guess you can pretty much almost always count on the fruited fermiers, the fruited 375s and most of the other fruited saisons to be quite sour.

The white label SdF has been perfect for nearly every batch and the Single Farm/Loam series has been top tier as well. Grisette is my go-to host gift as it so drinkable regardless of beer fanaticism. Pretty fantastic that these bottles are so available.

On the other hand, there have been some really sour ones too, - I am looking at you Open Spaces.

i agree with SsF white label except that all previous batches (i think 2-5) needed like 2 years in the bottle before they started tasting really good. the new one was great right at the start.

i agree with Single Farm too. that and the dry-hopped white labels are beyond fantastic.

Did SP or Cory comment at one point that they had adjusted their yeast strain to accommodate a less sour profile for the saisons? I’m not sure but I feel like I remember.. something being mentioned.

the quote i remember is that they dialed it back for white labels but that fruited SdFs and fruited 375s would still have their signature bite.

I respect them giving it a try, but it appears that the online issues may have been worse than they anticipated.

Took 8 minutes or so of the blue ring, had to manually enter all my info but it worked

Still available. Surprising considering there's only 1 sour in the package.

$45 for a 375 is probably the culprit

Yeah, they fixed something. It logged me out and then I could log back in and pay.

And still got the Shop pay text anyway despite being logged out. Oh well.

Yep, that's not helping things either.

If my past order says it's fulfilled, that means picked up correct? Usually I get an email, but i didn't this time - has assumed my proxy hadn't gone yet - but perhaps he did? I guess i could ask him, but considering he's not a beer guy, i don't want to nudge him like he's not picking my shit up quickly enough.
