These beers were only brewed once, right? The reason I ask is I recently purchased a bottle of the Black Barley Wine and Grand Cru. I thought it was odd that I would find them on shelves since they were brewed in 2010 I believe.

Ohh, that 30th Anniversary Grand Cru is drinking amazingly right now. Can't speak for the Black Barleywine (with age, it was great for the first year I had bottles), but Grand Cru is fantastic.

Yes. Just checked my reviews and they were all 2010, though it may be time to re-review the second bottles I bought.

Not sure how the bottles you found escaped after 3 years.

There is a grocery store that has quite a few bottles of each left for $10.99. I wasn't into craft beer back when these were released other than a couple local small breweries so I feel lucky that I was able to get a bottle of these.

    Thanks for the information.

Where is the grocery store? Those should be snatched up.

I found all four of them instock at a random store here in Michigan too!! Was thinking the exact same thing myself, but the Grand Cru definitely tasted like it had those years on it.

Had one of each recently and thought the age hasn't done the bock and grand cru too much harm but thought they had fallen off slightly. The stout and barleywine (as one might expect) have aged very well.

You're correct. All the 30th Anniversary beers were brewed in 2010.

Honestly, I think all of them have held up pretty well, with the exception of the bock. That one's a goner, I'm afraid. I was recently at a dinner that served all four, and the stout and Grand Cru were my favorite, followed by the Barleywine, which I liked, but didn't love.

I had all 4 again recently (since I turned 30 this year) and I actually liked the Bock better than the Grand Cru. Barleywine and Stout were top notch. Although I suppose this would all depend on how the beers were stored since 2010.

I opened the barleywine last night.

"Liked it but didn't love it" sums it up well.

Barleywine isn't a favorite style of mine, so it had that working against it.

Had one for my 30th too. I didn't have it fresh in 2010 but from what I remember from my Birthday beers its was pretty damn good. I think I paid $8 each for the Black Barleywine and the Grand Cru about 6-8 months back.

They do have the julian date codes stamped on the neck fyi. The black barleywine was brewed in February 2010.

The Black Barley wine was my favorite. I bought a bunch, I have opened one each October after the first one i drank fresh. I have loved the way they age. By far my favorite Barley Wine. I still have 5, and when ever i see another in the store I buy at least one.

I thought the stout was fantastic when first released. I recently found a couple bottles in the back of my cellar. Looking forward to popping those at some point soon.

Wow I wish I could find those still on the shelf! I've been drinking one of each every year, except for the bock I didn't care for that one. I agree they have been holding up very well. I think the best one I had was the barleywine at 2 years, wow that was so amazing. Had another bottle of the barleywine last month and it was still really good but it was better last year.

I opened a bottle of the Barley Wine a month or so ago. I thought it's held up pretty well. Still a surprising amount of hop character. What an awesome beer.
