Yay! Looking forward to that unfiltered hoppy wheat beer.

All I needed to see was "Vienna" and "Tumbler." I'm in. Oh, and here's the Hoppy Wheat labels:

Again I can't wait to pick up this pack. The Vienna is one of my all time favorites SN has made.

That Vienna lager is amazing. So wish it was a fall seasonal.

While I'll definitely be picking up a few of this pack, I am a little bummed that there is no Flipside Red IPA this year. I thought the mix last year was an absolute perfect variety pack, and a hoppy wheat beer seems like it would lend itself more to a summer offering to me. I'm sure it will be tasty nonetheless though.

Pretty much this. Flipside was probably my favorite of the pack last year, so it's sad to see it's not going to be in there... though the Vienna Lager was also great and there wasn't a single bad (or even average) beer in it, like pretty much all Sierra Nevada variety packs (last year's summer pack was especially great. That Kolsch needs to come back at some point.)

I'm not really of the "hoppy = summer" opinion, but wheat beers do tend to be more summery things for me, so I have to wonder what that's going to be like. Definitely would've rather seen Flipside in there, but the "pine and citrus" description for the hops does at least give me hope that this will be one that won't trigger my taste buds' "will it taste 'tropical' as intended, or will it taste spicy/herbal and onion-y instead?" roulette wheel -- I find the piney/citrusy hops are usually pretty consistent for me while the newer "tropical" varieties can't really be relied on taste the same from one bottle to the next (I'm assuming that's my taste buds and not the beer itself, anyway.)

These mix packs are hard on those that don't like IPAs. Give me tumbler and the lager all day in the Fall. Doubt I'll pull the trigger with half of the pack being hoppy beers. I'll be stocking up on the Oktoberfest.

I agree. The Vienna was very good. The hoppy wheat should be just as good. You can always rely on SN

I agree with you in some regards... While I personally enjoy hoppy brews. I feel as if the last few have been half hop forward. I purchase these by the case, as they provide great value.... $27 for 24!!! The winter one was a coffee stout that was amazing... Then Pale, Torpedo and a Belgium white ipa. All good, but try actually shaking it up.

    Lets say for example...

    Fall~
    Okoberfest or Vienna
    Tumbler
    A Pumpkin
    Flipside

    Winter~
    Coffee Stout
A winter warmer or a strong ale or a Scotch
    Celebration
    Belgium (anything)

I just feel like a sampler pack should be... well, just that. samplers! Get those amazing, but readily avialble beers out of there already! Yeah, I'm looking at you SNPA! Even though I love that brew!

    Still sounds great though!

That Winter pack would be awesome. The coffee stout was top notch. It really seemed like one of their more popular beers with a lot of people calling for it to be a seasonal. As for the current pack, I can deal with one hoppy beer, just not (as you pointed out) half the pack.

I would definitely buy both of these without a second thought. The other variety packs in the store's fridge would have to look ridiculously good for me to pass up either of these lineups, especially from a consistently great brewery like Sierra Nevada.

Has Sierra Nevada ever done a pumpkin ale, by the way? I know a really, really good one actually is possible (Brothers up in Harrisonburg puts out one in the fall that I thought was great based on the lone bottle I picked up last year... it was the first and so far only pumpkin ale that I've felt that way about -- I'd buy a six-pack in a heartbeat, and hopefully will be able to make a trip up to the brewery sometime in the fall when they have the "made with fresh locally-sourced pumpkin" version of it on tap so I can try that one, too!), but it seems like most of the ones I've tried definitely fell short of that level. Sierra Nevada doesn't really seem to do a lot of fruit/veggie/spice addition beers though, so I'm not sure how likely that would be for them.

Though I don't mind Sierra Nevada Pale Ale being in the variety packs, either -- sometimes I just wish it (or Torpedo/Celebration for the winter pack) was the only hoppy beer in a pack rather than the box being half/mostly full of hoppy beers. This is why I haven't gone for their spring all-IPA pack so far, and why I skipped the summer pack this year -- like the Pale Ale but I can easily get that on its own, same with Nooner, wasn't too interested in a session IPA (though it seems the consensus on here was that this was a good one, so maybe I should've tried it in case it doesn't come back next year...), and I remember liking the Hoppy Lager (more than 5-month-old Torpedo but not as much as fresh Torpedo) but don't really remember it being a particularly "summery" beer, at least for my tastes.

Please don't start using the terms pumpkin beer and SN in the same sentence. Please just don't. Thanks.

SNPA, Tumbler, and Vienna I know to be/are delicious, and the hoppy wheat label makes it sound quite delicious. I can't wait for this pack to hit, a definite pick up for me. This pack screams fall and college football!! Can't. Freaking. Wait. Thank you @sierranevadabill and Sierra Nevada Brewing!! I am a SN fanboy for life! Plus, Tumbler is one of my favorite beers.

Why?... Are you 78? It's almost 2017... Brewers have started to utilize the pumpkin in ales these days... Crazy, I know...(some even get it right!) Actually, never mind... Go back to reading your hard copy news paper and celebrating 'Coors' crossing the Mississippi, like it's 1985 ya old timer!

No, quite a bit younger than that. Are you 22? Have you just discovered beer? Now that I'm done with trying to pigeon hole you - I think most people here could do without another pumpkin beer on the shelf especially from such a respected brewery like Sierra Nevada. Pumpkin beers are surely just a trend that breweries only make to cash in on the season. Now please let's save this for the pro/anti pumpkin threads right around the corner.

I look at it differently and think that this pack has the perfect balance. SNPA is no longer that hoppy to me now that my palate has been through the ringer over the years. I love Lagers and brews in the darker family so the Vienna Lager and Tumbler are perfect. While I have been making a conscious effort to drink less IPAs/DIPAs and revisit some of my older, mellower styles, there are times when a hoppy beer is the only thing that will hit the spot and this wheat IPA sounds interesting so it will be good for me to have on hand. And on a related note, the stats are below and I am loving this trend of lower IBU IPAs, they seem to hit the perfect spot for me.

I don't think a Pumpkin Ale from SN is necessary considering the market gets flooded with them every year, plenty of options to choose from and I would hate to see a solid beer have to disappear from SN's variety pack to make room for one. I dig Pumpkin Ales and would certainly drink it if one was included but I will just choose from the many others.

An assertive hop-forward twist on wheat beer.
Wheat beers tend to fall on the mild and fruity end of the beer spectrum, but as hop heads, we’re turning that idea upside down by brewing a bold, hop-forward version of a wheat IPA. We’re using the light, lemony tang of wheat malt as a backdrop for layers of citrusy, grapefruit-like hop flavor from the use of whole-cone hops.

Yeah, I totally disagree... I think it would be great on a cool autuem evening. And I think SN would make an excellent one at that! I don't think pumpkin beers are a gimmick at all. Some can be really good! They can go great with food too! But yeah. We are just arguing opinion at this point... So agree to disagree. Sorry I made fun of you I guess. I was just being a troll :grinning:
