    Preach!

The other thing that gets me is people ragging on (insert name of large independent craft brewery here) for "being too big" who also get irate when a craft brewer sells out to a macro. I don't like when craft operations sell to a macro either, but that's why I try to support all of the breweries I enjoy as much as I can, including the bigger ones. When a craft company gets that big, while staying independent and not resorting to unethical business practices, that's something to celebrate, not denigrate. If you want craft to stay independent, be happy when they are successful on their own instead of boycotting them. As long as the beer is good, of course.

I'm pretty tight with the guys running a local bottle shop and they're good at keeping me and my ilk happy. I get what you're saying but I think these buy local guys will be negligible in terms of significant impact on supplies.

Clearly the guy could use some manners and choose his words a little better. I get that we should all be respectful of the guys at Sierra Nevada and the other pioneers, but I think some are taking this just a little too seriously. Cut the kid some slack.

That is indeed true for a segment of the beer geek crowd, This has been expressed many times in past BA threads as regards Sam Adams and in this thread with the young fellow concerning Sierra Nevada,
I suspect that much of the differing viewpoints on breweries like Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada,... is indeed a generational aspect. Best of luck convincing a "whippersnapper" to be respectful of the forefathers of the craft beer movement. I suspect that they think it is cool to comment in a non-positive manner to the old fuddy-duddies of the craft beer world.

    Cheers!

If he was a good friend of mine, I would have laughed in his face and told him he's a moron for making that statement.

While, I'd never pass up free beer (let alone SN), I'd imagine I said some pretty dumb things when I started to get into craft beer. Think about how much you didn't know when you got into craft beer and how much you've learned since. How will the new generation learn about the history if everyone dismisses them as a douche? I'm not saying it's right to turn your nose up at SN, I think that's ignorant and misguided. But as Beer Advocates, we should be educating them instead of deriding them.

Right there with you. I will try anything, but if my beer money had to go to a single brewery, it's Sierra Nevada and I never think twice about it.

    Funny----

Some folks are too ignorant to know what they don't know.

Some folks too dumb and think they know everything.

Many are in both camps--your colleague may be there.

Right now having an Urquell in Czech Rep. MAGIC. Bet it would have been turned down--not "crafty enough."

    Enough said.

Right on. No one seems to nail it year to year like these guys. They poured out 1000's of gallons in NC until they go it just like Chico. Kudos.

    Not manufactured >>>>>

Urgh I know - got that "brewed" taste

My locals are cranking out NEIPAs that just taste so damn artisanal - sublime

How much they charge these days? Haven't been for over 15 years - was like 50 cents or so I think back then - hazy memory

Bottled/canned Pilsner Urquell are packaged in cases (e.g., Four 6-packs of bottles). Are you not permitted to purchase a case of Pilsner Urquell?

    Cheers!

Like many here, I would have snached him up by a tuft of hair with my left hand and repeatedly slapped him back and forth with my right while lecturing him on his poor manners... In my mind. In reality I would have said "suit yourself" and enjoyed a perfectly good SN.

This guy probably goes to the local brewery and orders the hard cider option.

I sorta hate the "only drink local" elitist snobs. What if my local brewery sucks? Why should I support them?

If they suck don't support them.... if they are producing average to great beer support them so they can get better and your supporting local business. Same reason I shop local mom and pop resturaunts and stores.... they are my neighbors

If you're drinking beer that sucks then you're hardly doing well as an elitist snob
