For one of the most popular breweries there is, why have i never seen their Porter, Stout or Old Chico? I'd definitely pick them up if i did, the website says they are still in the main line-up. Thanks.

The best thing about last years Winter pack was the Coffee Stout and the Porter. They were 2 very solid beers. I think I had 4 snow packs last year and then hoarded those 2 to make it thru the winter. I don't ever see the Porter around Houston.

Depends on how well they sell in your area. You might have to ask the Clerks at your Shop to order some for you.

They definitely still get around, but I too rarely see those brews on the shelves. Not sure why that is.

I occasionally see Porter, seldom see the Stout and have never seen Old Chico.

Old Chico is mainly distributed in the Chico area where it is popular.

I was told at the Mills River brewery that Old Chico is a brewery only beer (at least over here in the NC/SC area).

Old Chico is only for locals up in California. It doesn't leave Chico County. I don't know why you don't see the other two. I see them often, here in the Philly suburbs. I'd have to think your retailer can special order them for you.

Old Chico makes its way out of Chico as I see it in the Bay Area IIRC.

Limited shelf space means choices must be made. IPAs sell moreso than stouts and porters. This doesn't totally answer your question though, since you're likely seeing plenty of other stouts and porters, so why not SN? Maybe the distributor and the retailers want to make sure they have room to sell their other brands too, so they're edging out the less popular brews from SN. Not sure man. Interesting question.

I can get Porter and Stout at anytime here, but it certainly isn't as prominent as SN's (and other breweries') IPAs. It's unfortunate too as both of those beers are FANTASTIC. People should grab them from time-to-time just to remind yourself of that point.

I've never seen their Porter or Stout either. Or Kellerweis -- the only way I managed to try that one is thanks to the summer pack having a few of them mixed in.

I know I've heard that Kellerweis hasn't been the best seller around here a few times, so I suppose that could have something to do with that one not showing up locally... but I'm puzzled by the Porter and Stout absence from the shelves, especially since literally every other Sierra Nevada beer is so easy to find here (I could go to any grocery store and walk out with either a six or twelve pack of Pale Ale, Torpedo, or their current seasonal or a variety pack whenever I wanted; Nooner six-packs are pretty easy to find too. One smaller local store carries the Ovila series of Belgian-styles, Bigfoot, Hoptimum, Narwhal, etc. too... but still no Porter, Stout, or Kellerweis! It's kinda weird, honestly.)

Porter and Stout are shelf turds at the grocery stores in Orlando. Saw a few with bottling dates approaching a year. Old Chico is mostly a CA distributed beer I believe. I see it quite often when I go to Chico/ Sacramento to visit family.

I picked up a six pack of Old Chico at Mills River this past summer. Pretty good stuff.

I rarely see the stout and porter available as 6ers, never Chico, in SC. The most common way to find stout and porter is in the variety packs. They have their Rain Check stout in 6ers here quite often.

The Porter and/or Stout will probably end up in the Winter variety pack.

Beer does not just "appear" on retailers' shelves - they order it from their (in this case) Sierra Nevada distributor. I can't imagine there are many retailers anywhere in the country who wouldn't gladly order a customer a case of Porter or Stout but without knowing there is a demand for the product, they are not going to order a beer that, probably in many cases, they once might have carried but dropped from their stock because of a lack of sales and a need for shelf space. And few distributor or brewery reps are going to repeatedly try to sell a beer that the retailer has previously dropped.

The most common way to find Porter and Stout in 6-pack, in SC is at craft beer shops. And Rain Check comes in 4-pack format.
