There's nothing inherently wrong with being on a bandwagon if said wagon is headed in the right direction. The taste of Torpedo makes it a great beer. The price ($6.79/six, $13.29/12) makes it truly outstanding. It's nearly $3/six less than Two Hearted. Sometimes, you really can have your cake and eat it too. For me, I think I put off trying it because I find SNPA to be meh, and didn't have high expectations. Boy was I wrong and will gladly admit it:sunglasses:. I still like to try other IPAs, but Torpedo is THE go-to IPA in my fridge now.

The only (non-double) IPA I'd put above Torpedo is possibly FW Union Jack - if only because it has a depth of complexity Torpedo lacks. Then again, it's a few dollars more for a 6 pack, and I can't get Union Jack in my immediate area.

Of course, while we're at the idea of non-double IPAs, if anyone is willing to trade me a bottle of Sculpin... *wink, wink* ...I could possibly change my opinion... ^^

Along the lines of ThisWangsChung comments, Torpedo and Union Jack are just a few tweaks away from being Doubles, and my favorite doubles tend to be the ones that are around 8%. That said, both are great beers, but they aren't "everyday" beers.

I LOVE TORPEDO! Truly a great IPA although I love trying IPAs that I haven't had as well as revisiting some I haven't had in a while, I always go back to Torpedo though, good solid brew…always some in my fridge. Cheers ~

If I had one before today, I don't recall, I certainly didn't review it. $4 for a 24oz'er at the grocery store- it will definitely become a regular in my fridge.

Torpedo and Finest kind are two IPA's I love but rarely buy. I usually grab a Two Hearted or Caldera, but the other two are equally as good and they are cheaper too. Torpedo in cans now that it's getting warm will probably change that.

I got my six pack this year of the Nugget, and it did come around again but I did not buy it like I normally would. I have been looking for different things this year to try and thus far I have enjoyed many!

But yes the Torpedo was excellent! I see alot of in my local shop!

I'm betting that Torpedo sales in cans will jump. With the summer coming, pool, beach stuff etc you can't have glass. IMO Caldera and Torpedo are excellent and I can get them quite easily vs having to buy or trade for Furious or HT. Not sure how SN keeps the prices so friendly too, it's at least 2-3 bucks cheaper than most IPA's I like.

For their pricepoint and availability, I say they are almost impossible to beat.

But right now I am bitter that I've had to wait this long for Hoptimum to hit my area this year, so for now I hate SN and am giving them the silent treatment.

Only if someone working for SN chimes in and I respond to them.

Understood. Don't feel too bad about not getting Hoptimum yet. I don't know what area you are in but we haven't gotten it yet in downstate IL yet, or if we did I totally missed out...

I love SN Torpedo, and usually have a 12 pack in the refig... I probably spend too much buying other IPA's but love to try new stuff... I'm just weak to expand my horizons..

"What's the point? Is this $13 4-pack likely to be significantly better than a $7 6-pack of Torpedo? Heck no.''

My thoughts exactlly. I never spend big bucks for beer, since there are so many good beers out there that are easily affordable and tasty too.

Yeah.Up until about a couple years ago I used to pass up torpedo all the time. Then one day I came across a thread about ipas that have citra in the recipe and Torpedo was listed. So I started revisiting this brew and finally realized what an awesome beer it is.Not sure what the hell was up w/me...lol. Picked up a super fresh 6pk. this past weekend.Great brew, great price for sure!

    Cheers All......
