You're entitled to your opinion, but my feeling is that the exact opposite is closer to the truth: because of their low price point and ease of accessibility, SN beers are often under-rated and taken for granted, Torpedo being a case in point.

I'll be honest I passed by Torpedo because I thought "no way it can be good at that price"...

Gotta jump in as another Torpedo fan! Not big on SNPA or Celebration (I know, blasphemy), but Torpedo seems to not have that typical Sierra yeast profile.

I love Torpedo and Celebration! All their other beers?? Meh... (SNPA is OK)

How can you say "it will definitely become a regular in my fridge" when you haven't tasted it ? Are you that easily swayed by the opinion of others ?

Just picked up a case today. It is getting hard to pay insane prices when SN is always awesome and fairly priced.

Does everyone who has had it in the can think it tastes the same as in the bottle or different whether better or worse? I took two of the cans to a party and tried reasoning with a slightly drunk person that it tastes the same to me and that technically cans are supposed to be better since they do not let in uv light. Anyways I eventually gave up trying to argue and said mmm still delicious.

Glad to see SN Torpedo getting some respect. It's a good, consistent IPA that doesn't break your budget. Been a favorite of mine for some time.

you can find it for $6.99/6pack at a couple stores around here but most charge $9 or $10 which is about the same as a lot of other IPAs

Another big Torpedo fan checking in. When you consider taste alone, it's damn good. Figure in price and availability?? It's damn near unbeatable (IMO).

SN and Stone seem to get a lot of my repeat buying dollar because of the favorable quality-to-price-point ratio.

I don't know why I walk past it too..

I love me some Hoptimum, and I think SN has a GREAT value for what you get, which is becoming a rarity in the "craft scene".

However, I built a 6-er of some randomness the other night at my beer store, and thought... Grab some Torpedo and give it a go.

What the fuck was my problem all along? Good stuff, and priced... peerrrrffeectly.

I too can attest to a huge love for SN Torpedo- well-crafted, delicious, highly drinkable, and an awesome value to boot!! Truly a contender in the realm of top IPAs, IMO..

I have not ever been overly impressed with Torpedo, not saying I won't drink one but around here they are ~$9/4 pack cans or 6 pack bottles which is pretty much inline with the majority of other quality IPA's I have access to (two hearted, founders centennial, red's rye, racer 5, dale's, etc).

Guilty as well for passing this awesome brew by whilst searching for the latest hop bomb.

"Rediscovered" it last year and it's been stocked in my 'Manfridge' ever since. I can get a 12 pack box of it at my local Whole Foods for $10.99. What's not to love? Great beer for a great price.

I rarely buy this, but if I do, it's definitely because of the price/freshness. With offerings such as Flower Power, Union Jack, and even Red Betty (formerly Red Racer) at the liquor store within a month old recently how can you blame me? (excluding price here)

And this comes from one of the biggest Sierra Nevada fans out there. I LOVE their Summerfest, Kellerweis, Stout, Northern Hemisphere, Celebration, Bigfoot.........these are all regular purchases and not just because of price. For some reason Torpedo just gets lost in the shuffle for me among all the other amazing IPAs.

7.25% is everyday, you know, if you don't like your liver much.

How the hell many are you drinking "everyday"? Two 7.25s is less than three 5.00s. Also equal to two glasses of wine or one Capn & coke. I would never make a call on what I want to drink based on one or two percentage points of alcohol. If I uncork a bottle of wine, I'll usually finish it. I don't drink a sixer in one night, so it's still less alcohol. If it's one of those occasions where I am drinking alot for some reason, I'll alternate with a few lites to keep both the calories and alcohol in check. To simply dismiss a beer like Torpedo from everyday drinking is silly.

FWIW, I've been drinking for 30 years and due to meds I'm on, my liver function is checked annually. I technically "shouldn't" be drinking with my meds, but my liver is fine.

Agreed! We just started getting FW Union Jack in St. Louis this past winter. Excellent beer. But you have to love the Torpedo!
