You almost purchase a 4-pack of an IPA you can't typically get, but put it back because it's too expensive, compare it to a six pack of Torpedo which is about half the price, then grab a 4-pack of a completely different style that costs more than $13. Complain about a four pack price, put it back, then spend even more for a four pack...I'm scratching my head trying to follow the logic. (not purposely being a dick either, seriously).

If that $13.00 4 pack was Deviant Dale's, he passed up one superb IPA.

Perhaps I didn't express myself clearly. I didn't put the IPA back because it was too expensive. I put it back because I was skeptical as to whether I would enjoy it as much as Torpedo. IPAs are a dime-a-dozen (yes, I said it). I love the style, but I have tried more of them than I care to remember and the vast majority of them do not blow me away. I figured since I was going to spend the money, I may as well spend it on something relatively unusual (like a barrel-aged barley wine), and not another IPA.

That makes total sense now, I agree with you. I read your post and my initial reaction was, "Whaaaaa? I don't follow the progression", 'was a little lost, that's all. No biggie.

Good. I was just being silly, anyways. I know that if I drink strong beer everyday, that I don't quite function well.

I'm very new (less than 2 months) to craft beers since I just turned 21, but since that special day I have been trying as many good beers as I can. When I went to a local liquor store that has beer knowledgeable staff I said "Hey bro, if you had 10 bucks to spend on ipa, what would you get? Torpedo was the answer. The only ipa I've tried so far that beats it is two hearted ale (imo). I also picked up SN stout and porter, and lagunitas sumpin or another .. All I can say as a beer noob is great bear at a great price.

Reminds me of a quote I read. Can't remember who, or what exactly, but it went something like; discovery is not about traveling to new locations, but rather seeing familar places with new eyes...Amen to that.

I haven't had Torpedo in a good minute. This thread is makin me wanna pick up a 4pk of some of their new tallboys lol. Also I gotta get some Summerfest when I see it 'round here (SN don't mess around when it comes to beer, especially seasonals. I wish Tumbler and Celebration were year-round).

same here i always look for something different or new. I decided to start buying their beer in cases lol. Summerfest is drinking great...perfect bbqing beer...light but tasty at the same time. I agree about the celebration. I have only had tumbler once, going to drink more of it when it comes out again. Have you seen Hoptimum where your at?

Yeah, I liked it, but probably won't go back. The booze just cut through too much for me. But to each his own.

yup. and the move to cans is awesome... 16oz is just right, the price (at least around me) has stayed low, and it stays fresher longer. i slept on torpedo for too long myself.

How is the cost of cans v. bottles of torpedo comparing elsewhere? So far I've seen the cans (essentially a 5-pack) for a dollar more than the 6-pack of bottles

definetly like it better in the can, of course I could say that for pretty much every ipa!
