Significant BeerAdvocate Milestone?

    If I can keep on task, I'll have completed 1000 'Beerflys' (I think you kids call them "place reviews" these days) by the end of the year.

    Not ratings, but wordy ass reviews.

    (Only took me 12 effin' years...)

    1. First trade. Got something I really wanted and absolutely could not buy on west coast.

    2. A local member gave me some info that a store near me had Parabola in the back. Months after the release. I went there and bought it. So awesome. I owe that dude a beer

    Mine would be returning after a long hiatus. It's funny because I never stopped drinking good beer, nor did my passion for all things beer related change. I'm just glad I'm back. Cheers.

    I've been here since August 2004. And you haven't.

    I have seen dozens of changes, every conceivable troll, nothing has not been discussed and nothing is really new. And it is still fun to read and contribute occasionally. There are legendary BA stories, purges, characters and some real assholes that only a few of us can remember fondly.

    So, with over a decade of BA experience under my belt I am the old man at the bar and I'm not yet 45.

    I'm still not sure after all these years what the fuss about rating and trading beer is about. Anyone? Isn't beer for drinking? So confused by it all.

    Most are still ahead of me, 500 beers didn't seem as big of a milestone as 100 seemed at the time but 1000 sounds pretty good. I'm at 93 different styles and I'm hoping to reach 100 soon, I feel this has had the most impact on my understanding and appreciation for beer. Looking forward to advocate status since I've started to contribute more.

    I think right now, crossing the 1000 beer threshold was fairly big. Like @WesMantooth I want to try every style, and I'm not there yet: 96 and counting.

    Past that, though, I don't really have personal milestones on BA. I drink beer; I enjoy beer; I enjoy the company of my fellow BAs.

    Nevermind...since they took away 25 of my beer karma points because of the change with magazine subscriptions I am no longer Poobah. Will report back when I regain Poobah status :wink:

    The beers I've discovered, the knowledge I've gained and friendships I've made; beer karma that can't be measured by points alone. That's what this site is all about, right? Thanks @Jason and @Todd for this porthole in the world of beer.
