I'm lucky enough to have a girlfriend that encourages and participates in my beer hobby. When we first started going out, she only drank PBR and Yuengling, but little by little I started introducing her to the world of craft. Now, she ALMOST gets as excited as I do for fests, special bottle releases, and mail trades. Actually, thanks to her, I was able to try Pliny for the first time a few weeks ago at a beerfest bottle share. The guys next to us had a few bottles, but no opener, so they asked my GF if she had one. She gave them an opener and asked for a cup of Pliny in return. The best part was that she had no idea how sought after Pliny is.

Anyway, cheers to all the SO's that encourage, tolerate, and/or participate in our obsession!

I am under strict orders to acquire Aphrodisiaque and Calm Before the Storm whenever I see them.

My wife is my partner in crime, and thankfully she does not have her own BA account! She loves brewery tours, will taste anything, put up with the shit shows at tasting events, and has developed her own likes and dislikes in the beer realm. When I actually do attempt to show some rare restraint at a bottle shop or brewery (like do I really need to add to the stash), often she is the one saying "well....when are you ever going to see that again". In some ways, she can be kind of a bad influence... It is rare that either of us drink when we go out for dinner or something, but there are occasions when we do. She's right there looking for the things she likes. Bonus points when a place has something we both enjoy and share.

I think it takes a while for people to come around to trading until they see the fruits of your labor and then once they get a taste they are hooked! Hopefully she comes around when she sees how much fun you have with it.

It took my wife a while to accept my pattern of drinking and spending but now she takes me to beer fests and encourages me to "get what I want" when we travel.

I feel it is my responsibility to be reciprocal and make sure that our excursions also cater to her interests such as yoga, the dogs, and shows/concerts. It's only fair.

I'm convinced that type of woman does not exist (no offense, ladies). One can dream, though.

My wife thought she didn't like beer for a number of years... turns out she doesn't like hops. It's been fun as she explores styles and finds different beers she enjoys.

With that being said, she doesn't "get" the money or time I spend on beer. I'd call it mildly annoyed at times, less mild at others... Much in the same way though that I don't "get" the time and money she spends on makeup/beauty supplies and yoga stuff. We're not perfect at it but we just try to set proper expectations. "Look, babe... this month there are a few big releases and I'm going to be spending more money than usual on beer. we good?" Stuff like that.

My wife does not drink beer. She will take a sip of most beers I get when she so graciously accompanies me to a brewery on our travels. As I am a home brewer she does enjoy that process. With all of that she is close to being a beer geek without really drinking much beer.

My wife has better taste in beer than I do... but I do all of the purchasing.

My wife can't drink, but she kinda lets me do what I want when it comes to beer. We have different hobbies.

My wife and I first became friends because of craft beer, in a way. The second time we ever hung out, we shared a smokestack series beer together and she loved it. The next time we split a Sam Adam's fall variety pack. The third time we shared a growler of oatmeal stout. We bonded over beer, that's for sure. She still loves it!

My wife and I appreciate craft with equal enthusiasm. A working relationship that explores
the good and the not so. Oversold fests, road trips, terrible, or brilliant releases, and she endures with a gentle
nod "the basement", as well as my home brew hobby.
    Cheers

My wife is into Wine - hates beer. I had a minor medical issue a few weeks back and we came to an agreement - 4 beer nights a week as opposed to daily - works for us. As for her, she is a teacher, so she may be drinking wine before I get home daily - LOL:grinning:

Your comments aptly describe my wife and me. I think wine cost more than beer but I make up for it in volume!
