My wife is totally cool with my love of craft beer, which is really my only hobby. However, I try to not make beer the focal point of our date nights or our social interactions with my buds too often. She likes wine and cocktails, so I always try to make sure that we go out somewhere that has a good wine list or some slammin' cocktails. Also, I limit the frequency of beer hangs with the dudes, cuz that can be seriously boring for her. She doesn't ask these things of me, but it's my way of making sure that my hobby doesn't annoy her. Lol...

My wife was as big a craft beer enthusiast until we started having budget problems. She considers BMC/Pabst/LaBatts to be "Smurf Piss". Now she limits my craft beer purchases to a weekly stipend, but still buys a twelve of Shiner Bock for us every other week.

I feel very fortunate after reading a majority of these posts. I'm more passionate about craft beers than she is, but it's one of our favorite shared hobbies. The other hobbies we enjoy are food (goes well with beer), dogs (we have two labs and a corgi, who all help us to keep the pounds off), music (we initially bonded over that), and film (we love going to the movies). When it comes to beer I do the chasing/buying and she helps me drink it. Wife prefers sours and big stouts and saisons and most Belgian styles. She's not a fan of IPAs, but Heady Topper and other New England IPAs were much more pleasing to her than the more bitter west coast stuff.

Our honeymoon was spent in New England last fall. Here's a photo of us at Hill Farmstead; she wore her Firestone shirt and we chatted up a bunch of people over delicious beers. I'm a lucky, lucky guy.

Sharing a hobby/passion with your wife is not a "problem," my friend.

My wife likes stouts and an occasional saison. She's pretty health conscious so she probably has < 8 a month. She's incredibly supportive though, to the point where if something I like isn't distributed to Chicago, she'll recruit her network of friends, ex co-works, and family spread across the country to ship it to me. We keep separate accounts so neither one of us is too involved in what the other one spends on what after everything is paid.

My wife is pretty cool for the most part. She is a beer only drinker when we drink and she's a trooper. She can put down the busch lights if we're camping but will also stop at the store and buy a six pack of Ballast Point, Stone, or Sam Adams on her own. It's been fun getting more into this hobby and breaking out a strong IPA and sharing it and getting her into it. When you do that it becomes more of a hobby and not just "drinking" on a Tuesday. I'd say that is where her support runs thin is if out of no where I'm cracking a few early in the week when we already had a fair share of beers over Fri-Sun. Before recently most our "craft" beer exposure was buying variety packs from Sam Adams, New Belgium, or Sierra Nevada. She likes those a lot, as do I but she will buy those and I will hunt down the other breweries she's not familiar with. All in all it's never an issue with this fun hobby.

My gf hates imperial stouts and IPA's but will always drink wheat and pale ales when I get them. She's more of a wine drinker anyway, and it helps that my beer store is also a wine shop so she'll go over to the left while I go over to the right.
