So, I haven't had much time to head down to San Diego or up north to the Bay Area lately. Been stuck in Fresno for the last six months. I try to read the forums and keep current with everything hyped up and craft beer related, but this lil rumor slipped from under me. I had a customer come into my work today and say that he talked to somebody over at Green Flash and got word that Silva Stout was going to start being distributed as a seasonal beer. I found this to be completely crazy, considering the brewery-only release early this year. Is this person mistaken, or is there some truth behind this. Personally, I would love to see Silva distributed. They apparently have the capacity now. Thought? Facts? MORE Rumors?

its barrel aged for well over a year so i highly doubt they are going to be releasing it every year. its expensive, and made in small batches. sounds like your source was wrong. but i dont know that for sure, just speculating since theyve only made it twice

its amazing the things i hear at the brewery i work for of "oh well someone else told me this". people hear what they want to hear sometime.

If they are moving silva stout into mass production, that mIght explain the sharp decline in quality with the last batch.

Maybe the mysterious extra bottles that showed up in stores a month after the supposedly exclusive special release party were some sort of test. Or perhaps the source of this rumor.

Why would either one of those factors make it not true?

Isn't Silva Stout a blend of barrel aged double stout and fresh double stout? Wouldn't the cost of producing Silva then be in line with a 100% barrel aged beer aged for less time?

I did read on a news site (forgot which one) an article that they invested in a LARGE amount of barrels so they could up the production of silva. I am excited about that.

They have the room for them in that aircraft hanger they call a brewery.

I'd love to see more Silva Stout, but I do hope the quality moves back inline with the older batches. This last batch was very disappointing.
