Neither... but I do agree with you. We cross-posted!

I just didn't have the sources, so I was making light of my own "expertise"! Cheers!

Mother Road here in AZ uses them also, I actually like them a lot.

I drink what ever the brewer uses? And I can find on the shelf. Would someone here really reject a beer because it came in a can?

How just the air in the headspace at 21% O2 will destroy a beer quickly. Color change is an indicator of oxidation, and it was very visible.

The hour presentation was very good. What I talked about was just a illustrative example for Homebrewers.

I prefer cans. I think it is just personal preference.
I actually do not recall the last time I bought beer in bottles. If I see the same beer in both I am 100% of the time going with cans.

I would not turn a beer down because it is in a bottle.

What if the canned beer was 3 months older than the bottled beer?

That's a good point...although must of what they said is true, about stackability, recycling, light protection, etc.

No, that's actually never happened to me before. *knock on wood*

I've tried belt buckles, lighters, and quarters. I couldn't get it with any of them, and I'm not going to try the method hooking the cap on a shelf or table and smashing down on it. That makes a mess and spills beer everywhere.

It's geeky scientific discussions like this that remind me why I like this "hobby" (amongst other reasons)

If I had to choose it would be cans. But it seems the canned date is generally more critical (vs bottles)

I suppose the correct answer is drink directly from the brite tank

Same. If the beer only comes in bottles, I'll buy it as such, but I'll choose cans over bottles every time unless the bottles are much fresher.

Well I'm sure the market played a huge roll in the transition to cans. Maybe @sierranevadabill can chime in on their quality pursuit for cans.

purge with co2 doesn't completely illuminate o2. You'd have to do that multiple times to really reduce the numbers. Its still an issue.

For an IPA if cans are 3 months old and bottles are newer I'd go with the bottles. Relatively the same dates I'd go cans all day long.

Unfortunately I have to say bottles until I get my bottle cap map of the US filled in :slight_frown:

Cans are easier to cram into the tiny beer fridge quota my wife allows me to have, so I prefer them. But I'll drink out of a baggie if the beer's good.

And Weedy (@honkey) who brews at Tombstone Brewing posted in this thread:

"My canning line in Tombstone measured total DO at 9 ppb on the lowest end and 35 ppb on the high end."

Canning lines for small breweries can indeed achieve very low oxygen levels.

    Cheers!

Most of the beers I prefer (mainly Belgian styles) only come in bottles. I can't ever see pouring a Rochefort 10 or Cantillon Gueuze or Westmalle Tripel out of a can, it just wouldn't be the same.

On the rare occasion when I feel like an IPA or something of that nature, then either a can or bottle is fine.

Yes, that's why I stated that their (Victory, FW, AB) industry perspective was specifically theirs... but glad that you took the time to re-post that example.
