That's too bad, I guess I'll continue to pass up their beer, although this one was pretty good at the DIPA fest.

Hmm, this looks like a winner from an otherwise mediocre brewery. I have avoided trying any of the Knee Deep beers so far but I might want to give this one a shot. Any idea of the price on this one?

Yep. I liked the Citra pale ale more than Hoptologist.

Really? I thought it was completely bland. But it could have been sitting there for a year for all I know.

You've avoided trying anything by them so far, but are perfectly fine with calling them mediocre?

I've liked everything I've had by them except for one bottle of Hoptologist. The other one I had wasn't bad.

I cracked a bottle if this tonight, and thought the aroma and flavor was great, but the 10% was not well hidden. I was a good beer, but not sure I would buy it again at the price point.

I worded that poorly. I meant based on the review averages.

Agree. I wasn't a fan of the Tanilla, but the Citra was awesome.

Split a bottle at Whole Foods Tustin this weekend & great aroma off the bat. There were fusel notes but I still found it quite enjoyable with the tongue abrasion. Tastes pretty fresh, would love for them to put bottling dates in the future.

As I promised I did get to a bottle of Simtra. Yup, this is the real deal, and not being a huge fan of Knee Deep I can say that they hit it out of the park with this one and it could very well put them on the map with this release alone. To me it's a cross between this years Exponential and PtY with a little Kern Citra tossed in,the nose on this is amazing, super fresh cantaloupe melon and citrus fruits. They can balance out the booze just a little but it's not that out of line, like Expo and PtY, these are meant to be savored, not quaffed like a session beer and it does open up revealing a great palate. Nice job Knee Deep, I will buy more of this.

I got two bottles yesterday at Jackson's liquors in Lafayette. $9.49 each, no limit. Don't know if they have any left at this point. They also own Monument liquors in Concord and Moraga liquors in Moraga so they may have it as well. Cheers and good luck on your search. BTW, phenomenal beer!
