Found in SF. They had a bunch at City Beer Store on Friday!

Haven't tried this Simtra yet. Haven't seen it. But I haven't even looked for it. It seems to be overpriced. Maybe I will try this one when I run out of my bottles of pure, duet, nelson and bad boys.

Do you avoid Alpine's beers too?

Alpine sells out fast enough that I know it's fresh. (And that's sort of a silly argument since it's never on shelves here, so you have to trade for it. Which I typically don't, and when I do it's all special releases and growlers that are known fresh.) That's not the case with these. Well, I guess their Citra Pale could have just sucked, since it had no hop odor at all, but I figured it was old.

Knee Deep is a dilemma. Both their Citra Pale Ale and Hoptologist are pretty pathetic examples of their respective genres. Then they concoct this TIPA and seem to have found some recipe that works. It's overpriced but maybe that will change once it goes into year round distro and the way it was flying off the shelves, thanks to some creative types who overhype via Facebook, you knew it was fresh.

    Cheers.....

I tried it yesterday. It's pretty good but not worth $9+ a bottle in my opinion.

I was at Bevmo and the beer dude talked me into it.I usually balk at anything over $9-10.I was already grabbing Hoptologist. And the IPA was pretty good to for the price(IMHO).So I got 2.It was pretty powerful without anything distinct to me.But the other bottle is still in the fridge. So we'll see how the 2nd tasting goes.

Powerful is a good descriptor of this beer. I tackled one solo and knew it was a bad idea about a third of the way in. I have warned others not to do so. I do enjoy the beer though. I bought a few and am glad with the purchase, but doubt I will buy more. It's a little over the top. I think I'll go tackle a Pure Hoppiness solo right now.
