I have 4 ozs of galaxy hops but have a a lot of citra and mosaic. Really love the galaxy hop aroma and I was thinking of doing an all citra hop pale ale/IPA like beer but then dry hopping it exclusively with galaxy.

What are your thoughts of brewing a beer with all one hop except when dry hopping? Will the galaxy hops still come though or will the citra aroma be dominated by the galaxy? I am hoping I get that nice citra flavor while blending with the galaxy aroma.

Hop schedule is as follows for a 5 gallon batch:

    .75 oz. Citra First Wort
    2 oz. Citra 10 mins
    2 oz. Citra whirlpool
2 oz Galaxy Dry Hop, 5 days
2 oz galaxy Dry Hop, 3 days room temp in keg.

This is something I do often. Kettle hop with one hop and dry hop with another.

For your beer, you should have light Citra aroma and strong Galaxy aroma. The flavor will be 90+% Citra and you may perceive a little Galaxy flavor.

That's sounds good! I do like the citra aroma so I was hoping to still retain some. Any particular combos you like for this hopping schedule?

This is difficult to answer because I like the results of almost all of my beers, but none of them stand out as substantially better than the rest. I don't intentionally brew the exact same beer twice and use a wide variety of hops.

In my book, you can't go wrong with the combo of Citra and Galaxy. I did a pale ale not too long ago with just those two, albeit I used some Galaxy late in the boil and dry hopped with both. The beer is great and the smell is incredible. The feedback from numerous people has been nothing short of excellent.

I might have to pull the trigger and get more galaxy but hate buying in 2 oz quantities. My local shop sells most varieties for $20 - $22 a lb except galaxy. They only sell them by 2 oz bags at like $4.

That's NOT a bad price...if they have been handled gently and you don't have to pay shipping...otherwise...http://www.farmhousebrewingsupply.com/search.php?search_query=Galaxy

If you are worrying about the 2014 date...qualities vary from year to year....2014 was good but you could roll the dice on 2015s : )

The place I get ingredients is from a brewery, Phantom Ales, that has a shop where they sell hops, grain etc and at great prices! I got the citra for $21 a lb and two row is $1 a lb, even less if you buy a full bag. All the hops are stored in the fridge in a air right sealed bag. Their white labs vials are $6 too.

    Thanks for the link!
