    Can Release Wednesday 3/28
CONFORM OR BE CAST OUT DDH IPA w/ Pink and Szechuan Pepper 7.2%: Exit the Warrior, Enter the Dragon. Juicy citrus and pineapple, complimented with a pine "ma" from Szechuan and a fruity candied pineapple from the pink pepper. Winner. LITTLE/NO DISTRO

DDH SOFTLY SPOKEN MAGIC SPELLS IIPA 8.6%: Our lush classic returns in it's Super Saiyan form, an entire 2nd dry-hopping, upping the intense apricot, soft orange, and adding a touch of resiny pine, with bright acidity and a perfectly balanced finish. FULL DISTRO

COLD FIRE DDH IIPA 8.2%: Your new best friend just texted and wants to hang out. Cold Fire is the double-double version of Weird & Gilly, upping the power and adding a second, equally large dry-hop. Sweet orange juice, tangy palate, mango, and longing. It's enough to break your heart... in pieces.

Love the name but Conform or Be Cast Out sounds kinda gross. I hope my shop gets cans of SSMS and Cold Fire but, they haven't been seeing any recent can distro from SingleCut so not expecting it.

Picked up SSMS, and it's tasting fantastic. This is the beer that got me into NYC craft beer and it still holds up. The only issue for me is that it's just not a $22 beer.

I also had a glass of Conform Or Be Cast Out (I mean I love Rush and the song Subdivision so how could I not). It's actually pretty good, but I don't think I could get a 4-pack of it.

I scooped some SSMS as well, but haven't cracked it. I was also put off by it being $22 at the brewery.

Conform or be Cast Out was very interesting... I couldn't really tell where the tropical notes from the hops ended and peppercorns began (I'm also not really up on pink or szechuan peppercorns), which I wasn't expecting...

I liked it in a '5oz is plenty' way. Strong personal reminder that it's never a bad idea to try a pour before copping a 4-pack.

For me, tropical notes were upfront, which quickly transitioned into a szechuan kick, and then the two kinda waltzed around before fading entirely. Definitely an interesting beer, and certainly better than what I expected.

Echoing the SSMS sentiments, both on how it's tasting and the price.

I'm able to justify a 4-pack because they only seem to release it every 3 months or so, but I definitely buy less than I normally would, seeing as there are tons of amazing local options available without the premium. It is still one of my favorites though.

Wow, I'm going to have to message Singlecut at this point. Cracked open my second can of SSMS and the taste has fallen off considerably. Cracked open the third can and it tastes just as bad. I guess it's an oxidation issue? Tastes nothing like the initial can I had at the end of March, and its only been just over a week. I had this issue multiple times last year.

I dont get the shade Singlecut gets for charging $22 for DDH Magic Spells..Other Half and LIC charge $20 for similar beers..so its an extra $.50 a can..is that really such a huge difference maker that you wouldnt buy it?

Had one at Top Hops. No experience with the beer otherwise, but tasted off from what I expected (no real "fruit/tropical" taste at all, just some hops and resin and a background with some faint cardboard which I guess is oxidation?) Never had the issue with any other beer from a NEIPA before so maybe it was just me? The appearance seemed normal.

I totally hear you, but a) I guess the line has to be drawn somewhere, and b) optically it doesn’t look great when a brewery that’s perceived as being not quite at the level of some of the other local players, charges more

My reasoning is two-fold: 1) the quality, generally speaking, is subpar compared to Other Half or LIC, which is annoying, but I'll buy Singlecut regardless and 2) I've had numerous quality issues with Singlecut beers over the last year, which now includes this most recent batch of Softly Spoken. Last year alone I think I had around eight oxidized cans. That cost adds up, and with a certain price tag I should expect few, if any, quality issues. I've never had a single issue with Other Half or LIC Beer Project.

Did you reach out? Curious to know what they said. Had my second can last night, and it was definitely more muted than the first. Didn't notice any cardboard taste from oxidation though.

So I had messaged Singlecut, first via the contact page on their website, and then after waiting for a few days, directly by email. The quality manager was great and wanted to know as much information as possible. I offered as much info as I could recall. They are reviewing the procedures with their canning company this week so he said it was perfect timing. He offered some replacement 4-packs, and I was happy to just pick up a 4-pack of SSMS, which I did this afternoon.

Just cracked open the first can and...sour. Smells sour, tastes sour. Can't drink this. I'll message him again, but honestly I don't think I'll be purchasing Singlecut anymore...
