Funny I actually thought Use the NME was much juicier and more well balanced than Mo Shuggie. Maybe it's the hop profile. I went to SC intending to pick up MS and wound up buying NME instead after trying both. NME is one of their better beers I've had to date.

Had NME at the tasting room and I think it's too astringent, hopefully it comes together with some time.

Had a Mo Shuggie from the can and I can say it is DEFINITELY green, will finish off my Groove Angle and Power Source before coming back to it.

Apparently it's easier to find SC beers on draft in Boston... I've had DDH Bon Bon and DDH SSMS over the past two days... Prefer the latter by a lot... Delicious.

Well Mo Shuggie tastes a lot better in can than what I remember having on draft a few months back.

Had an NME last night at the taproom. It was horrific - I couldn't finish it... Astringent with a Mr. Clean vibe... Not sure what happened there, but this went beyond personal preference into 'something is off here' from my perspective...

That said, copped some Mo Shuggie (glad they still had 4 packs) and looking forward to DDH Jenny Said.

I loved the first batch of Jenny, and was excited when it hit distro, but i just paid 24 for a 4 pack...thats nuts. I would have pushed it back but i also got a 4 pack of second fiddle and assumed that was the high item cause its a limited distro release, but was totally suprised when it was 18. this is also my goto place (hix beer and soda) that has been reliably well priced compared to others

obviously its cheaper to go the brewery, but its getting a little nuts

I must say, Use The NME did get much better with age. Certainly not their best, but still good nonetheless.

I'm in the same boat as you. I am not paying $6.99+ per can for Singlecut. Their beer is in no way better than any of the other local breweries who seem to have a price point at a couple dollars less per can. I bought the latest batch of MoShugs at $6.99 and wasn't impressed, especially compared to previous batches. It was a good brew for sure, not $6.99 good tho.

Yeah this batch just wasn't up to par. Singlecut is too inconsistent for what they're charging.

Their pricing gets discussed a lot and like others it's why I don't buy them anymore. I will buy Heavy Boots, I feel it's fair at the $8 I usually see it at. I also see reasonable pricing on growler fills at one shop.

Any thoughts on how this may affect them down the road? Will we see prices come down to the $4 to $5 range? That was the hope when they started canning. I have to imagine there's a decent amount of inventory just sitting on shelves. In fact, I know a shop or two where this is the case.

I'm in the same boat as most of you. I won't do it anymore. They're just too expensive to justify spending $7 minimum a can for. I mean, $24 for a 4-pack? You gotta be kidding me.

Are their prices really that far out of line? Pretty much any good can in the city is $6-8/can. You know if OH saw distro they would be on the high end of that. Good beer, yes. High prices, yes. Worth it for any of them, depends. For one can I will pay that because of what others pointed out, inconsistency. This goes for plenty of locals, they are all hit and miss, but not as much so with the same beer as SC. For example Grimm is hit or miss on cans for me, some great and some meh. However, the same can at different releases always tastes more or less the same. I know what I am getting with Tesseract for example. With SC you can't say the same, the batch variability is the biggest issue I have. I'd pay $7/can for DDH SSMS, but only if I knew it would tastes the same every time.

Just for another comparison, I think Sip is running around 24 a 4pack. No way in hell would I pay that when pretty much any 4pack from SC, Interboro, Greenpoint, LIC is the same range and better IMO. Two Roads ruined that beer.

Yes. Where I am at out side the city they are $7 while Grimm, Finback, Barrier, Night Shift are in the $3.50 to $5 range. Most in brewery prices for 4-packs are in the $14 to $20 range.

I'll chime in to say 6-8 is not an acceptable grouping for me. I see a huge difference in there. While I may very very rarely be okay buying a $6 can in a store, I'd never pay $8.

Ok, that is understandable then. Also, damn. I've never seen ANY of those cans less the $5/can in Manhattan. $5 is WFs, and you can't buy singles normally.

I have had a ton of Mo Shuggie, this batch is solid, batch I had at end of last year was amazing. I had Full Stack a couple of months ago, I usually enjoy it, last batch was awful, I drain poured 6 cans.

Singlecut not worth $6 or $7 a can, maybe Grimm since it is in such short supply, SC is not in short supply. I go right to the brewery when I want it, would never pay more than what I pay at brewery.
