I asked them on Instagram if this SSMS batch was any different from the last, and they said this batch was DDH.

Asked if wether this was the first time SSMS was dryhopped.

    Response from Singlecut-

This is a new variant, dry-hopped for a second time with a different dry-hopping bill than the first time. DDH is a tricky phrase, because it doesn't really describe HOW MUCH we used (but trust us, it was a lot in both phases).

    Cheers!

I think their first can release said "brewery only" but I don't think that meant they would only sell cans through the brewery. Massachusetts starting getting can deliveries a while ago through normal distribution. The only problem with the cans was that they were too expensive, IMHO. When I first looked they were over $6 per can when purchased outside of the brewery. The announcement posted above shows $20 per 4 pack which is a little bit better but still above most places these days. That being said I didn't really bat an eye when I used to pay upwards of $7 per bottle for about the same amount of beer in their 16 oz cans. The problem I see now is that there's just too many beers in the same league as SingleCut to really justify a higher price.

If they sell at $5 per can outside of the brewery then I think I'd probably pick it up once in a while but I doubt I'd continue buying SingleCut at over $6 per can. I know I used to pay $7 but that was when it was a novelty because it was new. For MA you've got Trillium and with Tree House opening their expanded brewery this summer great beer is going to be too easy to come by to justify high prices per can.

Just to answer the questions: Singlecut is officially distributed to DC, it's not a grey laws thing. I don't believe we've gotten everything they've released since they started canning, but we've definitely gotten Workers Are Going Home, SSMS, Jim Is Working Hard, Harry Doesn't Mind and Bon Bon all in cans.

Dan was kind enough to elaborate further-

    Kinda like this:

    SSMS: Dry-Hop Bill #1

    DDH SSMS: Dry-Hop Bill #1 + Dry-Hop Bill #2
Should be a different beer, at least aroma wise. Very excited.

Anyone know if they usually have a line for releases like today?

Seems highly unlikely there would be any kind of significant line or possibly no line at all.

I agree. Granted these are DDH - but people seemed excited when they first canned SSMS and not only was there no line, the taproom wasn't much more crowded than ususual and the cans lasted at least a couple of days.

Plus lousy weather today seems like it will deincentivize people who may have otherwise trooped out.

In and out easy - no lines, not too crowded as of 30 minutes ago. Both beers tasting awesome - if anyone is on the fence, go for it!!

Believe they said they did 200 cases of each...

Blows my mind that Singlecut can't rip through 200 cases of each DDH IPA in 24 hours, per Instagram they are predicting it lasts to Sunday.
