I thought we all came to the agreement that we would keep the singlecut thread the way it was

Haven't had it since the Spring, had it on tap last night and it's awesome. Not sure why this beer doesn't get any hype.

Anyone else really disappointed with Is This The Real Life? Maybe I got a bad bottle, but it was pretty bad.

I had a bottle of BA Heavy Boots of Lead last night. It was seriously decadent and delicious.

Drinking BA Heavy Boots right now. This beer is really really good but I think I prefer the original better. Not as much vanilla and chocolate up front in the BA version like the regular. And the BA version, not surprisingly, is way more sweet.

Had a BA Heavy Boots of Lead last night as well. Once we popped it it smelled tart, slightly sour, and reminiscent of one of many infected BCBCS'15 that I've drain poured earlier this year. I still gave it a try. Tasted extremely tart, like Tart of Darkness. After a few sips of it, I didn't want to subject my stomach and liver to anymore, it was overwhelmingly off taste for me. No chocolate, oak, or maple flavors came through for me. Did anyone else run into this issue or was this just me?

Funny you say that bc I was told by a friend of mine who works at my local store that he detected a sign of infection as I was about to buy 2. Only bought one. And I did get this tart cherry flavor on the backend when I first opened it at a colder temp. The acidity was actually pretty prevelant. As the beer warmed that quality completely disappeared and the maple sweetness and chocolate took over.

I was gonna make a post earlier about this exact issue but forgot.

I saw someone on Untappd claiming they had an infected bottle. You should contact brewery and let them know, they are very responsive.

Sounds like you had a drastically different experience than I did. As suggested above, you may want to contact the brewery.

Pretty sure I'm the person you're talking about. The aroma on my bottle was straight metallic cherries and not much else. Taste was a mess, honestly. There were faint hints of chocolate, coffee, barrel character, etc...but they were all very much muted and matched with that sour/metallic cherry taste that the nose provided.

Sucks...I loved the original Heavy Boots of Lead last year. I had a bunch of friends taste it blind and they were blown away that it had no adjuncts in it. Most thought it was Dino S'mores.

When I had BA HBoL on tap, it tasted phenomenal. Hearing these rumors of infection within the bottle definitely has me worried.

I got a ton of cherry notes when I had my bottle but I wouldn't call it tart though, I assumed it was another flavor from maple degrading not dissimilar from the maple double negative with apple

There's definitely an infection issue at play here with BA HBoL. I got one bottle from a friend and it had that same sour taste others described. Not as bad as '15 BCBCS in my case, but definitely not enjoyable. Then got a bottle from my local beer store a week later and it was outstanding. All the flavors were sharp and distinct with no hint of sourness. Went back and for two more bottles from the same case assuming that was from a good batch.
