I had this today and quite enjoyed it. I didn't pick up heavy cinnamon, rather it was very strong chocolate with a solid chile punch to me. My only wish is that it was a little thicker/creamier.

I'm sure it's delicious, and yes, chocolate and chili peppers go really well together, bit I can't think of any cake I've ever had that contained chili peppers. I guess when I see the word cake, peppers don't pop into my head.

I was there on Friday and felt the same way. I thought the flavor was great, just a little too thin - with that in mind I still really enjoyed it.

Cake Beer was really well done. My first thought was.. Hunahpus Light. Keep up the good work Sisyphus!

Just got back from our weekend excursion to the Twin Cities... I liked Sisyphus a lot. Good environment and the brews I tried were great! I even got a full Cake Beer. It was phenominal. One of the best brews of the weekend. If they would have pulled that comedian on Friday night, we would have stayed longer! He was terrible!

I can see how Isaac Witty is not for everyone, but I think he is hilarious and sad I didn't know he was going to be there.

Is cake beer all gone after the weekend? Anyone know the current offerings on tap?

Cake beer didn't last through the weekend. The taplist on their website is almost always accurate.

    Thanks @ramay86

Might stop over there tonight for a pint of West Cost IPA. Its a shame that I work downtown but don't head over more often, especially for releases like the citra ipa or the cake beer.

You might want to wait until tomorrow. If I remember correctly they aren't open on Mon and Tues.

What SipIt said, they are closed Monday and Tuesday. From my experience, they do a pretty good job updating their tap list. I would check it tomorrow closer to 3 though just to make sure it was updated.

I stop there a lot after work since it is on the way home... though most of the Twin Cities is on the way home. :slight_frown:

A Sisyphus expansion is in the works. They are adding an 88-seat comedy club to their space next door. That should make the place a real blast in the future. Get some tasty beer and enjoy some good comedy!

Sam has got a new Centennial pale ale on tap that I really like. Anybody been there in the past few weeks get to try that beer? It's very bright and hop forward like most of their hoppy beers.

The Sisyphus expansion is finished! It looks freaking awesome! They are going to test out the new room for free comedy night tomorrow the 17th. I love the bar in the new room too. Very cool. I plan on being at the comedy showcase tomorrow. Anyone other of you fine BA's going to show up for some beers and comedy?

I hit this place for the second time with my brother and while I was not unimpressed the first time, this time I came away with really good feelings on their beers. I had four of the five they had on tap and all were 8.0 or better on a scale of ten. I've gotten away from scribbling notes at every place I am at but I thought the English IPA was truly outstanding. As was their Mosiac offering. Both were probably 9.0+ Their porter was better than most (8-8.5 in my opinon) and their West Coast IPA fit the bill with a lot of hop bitterness but not bad bitterness.....more grapefruit rind, maybe a little sharp pine in there.

Prices for pints were great but for take homes they are a bit high but I'm not going to fault any startup small business for setting prices for what they need to succeed. I loved the fact that while they don't offer 64 ounce growlers they have no problem filling 64 ounce glass if you have it. Great way to deal with their customers and something a few others who do offer glass but don't fill others could learn from.

I'll be back and they have risen quite high on my list of place to hit when in the cities.

I have come to realize that they do not advertise the fact that they fill 64oz growlers because they just do not have the brewing capacity to fill the demand. So we should probably keep that on the down low. But it is a nice open policy that other breweries could learn a lot from.

We don't mind filling the 64oz growlers, but it's true if we advertised it we might have a hard time keeping up with demand (as we struggle with it right now). But we just finished our renovations and hopefully within the next month or two we will be making twice as much beer as we were in the past.

Also, our Double IPA is back on tap as of today. I'd say it was our most requested beer to make again, but we haven't had it since last fall. It uses the Conan/Heady Topper yeast. It's really good.

Had the Double IPA yesterday at Sisyphus with that Conan yeast...damn. I thought it was like drinking tropical juice. Perhaps the best beer I've ever had there.
