How long do you sit out your stout (bomber in particular)?

    Yes I like stouts room temp. The room my cellar is in stays under 60 degrees year round so I grab one off the shelf then drink it in another room that is room temp.

    This is my response as well. I have been to brewpubs that served me luke-warm stouts and I hated them. I love the process of drinking a beer cold and and noticing flavor changes as the beer warms.

    If it is a stout I am familiar with it is consumed rather cold, but if it is a
    new one I start cold and then go back to it every 10 minutes or so till
    I am either seduced and go all in or let it breathe.

    Kinda like a tootsie-roll pop in a glass.

    I am probably in minority, but I prefer my stouts on cold side.

    15-20 minutes before I start sipping, a 22-oz bomber of a BA or Imperial, can take me a long to me to finish, love seeing how the flavor changes

    I pour them right out of the fridge but I also drink pretty slow. By the time a get halfway through a glass it's fairly close to room temp.

    You people not refrigerating your beer are weirding me out :joy:

    Depends on the beer. Some I know I like cellar temp. Some I'm drinking for the first time and I'll chill for 24 hours before drinking so I can see how it develops as it warms. Last night I had a Cigar City Cafe con Leche and I refrigerated it for 2 hours before drinking. I've also had some bigger stouts that for me needed to be ice cold, such as Avery Uncle Jacob's Stout. Kind of all over the place really. Moral of the story. Experiment to see what you like. Very easy to do with six packs in particular.

    For me it matters on the abv, style, and what flavors I’m expecting.
    Higher the abv I try to keep my stout on the cooler side because I drink a little slower and tend to find a bunch of booze by the time I’m a third of the way done!

    I drink them straight out of my cellar, which is set at 52°. Sometimes I put the remainder of the bomber in the fridge (mainly in the summer), & sometimes I don't.

    My beer fridge is kept between 45 and 50, so everything out of it is good to go.

    It's annoying to get a beer on draught that's too cold - I'm not accustomed to waiting :slight_smile:.

    If I want to drink it without waiting, before I open the bottle, I let it sit in a container of hot water. Takes about 10 to 15 seconds to get it where I want it. No one has ever agreed with me on this, but that's ok, it works for me.

    I re-adjusted my fridge to 48 and have never been happier. I was thinking of putting it to 50 to see if that makes any real difference. I still think my beers are sort of too cold at 48.

    IMO, this poll is a little misleading... I usually sit on a good bomber for about a year, but if I have multiples, even up to 5 or more. I think this is a question more about ideal serving temps on stouts. In that case, I'd probably go with a cool 55-60 degrees.

    I start my stouts slightly chilled. Normally I put it in the fridge for 10 minutes of I pulled it from the cellar. I hate starting them too cold because it kills flavor.

    I am another guy that opens them straight from the basement. Cool but nowhere near cold. How many times have you been enjoying a beer, even an IPA and find that it tastes better when the glass is almost empty. I figured it is the temp. Europeans know what they are doing when they enjoy certain beers at room temperature. It's all about the flavor..

    I put 15 minutes, because this is all the patience I have. I pour right away but I wait a bit and I drink pretty slow, so quite often it is room temperature on the last few sips. One time I got distracted doing something online, and left my beer sit for half an hour. My wife finally commented "now your beer is warm", to which I said "good".
