15-20 ideally, but more realistically 0 because my patience seems to wear thin most days.

Unless it's a coffee stout or Guiness I don't put stouts in fridge period unless it's for 20mins or less. Something like a bourbon barrel or Ten Fidy I just crack open room temp.

Other than high heat of MAX summer, I keep mine in a cool storage room. Right now, @~8F outside, it's probably right near freezing. At 65 out, it's probably ~45. So... I said 15 min.

This is the beauty of impy stouts. You take em out of the fridge, pour, sip on it and wait for the flavor to change while it warms up. If it gets too warm you can even pop it back in the fridge and take the dog for a walk and it’ll be back to perfect temp once you take it out.

I also decided to crack a stout today just cause of this thread.

I can see that during the winter but what do you do during the rest of the year in AZ? Do you just abstain from stouts?

I have a closet that stays pretty cool its center of house and dark. Usually in summer I toss some of my stash into a beer fridge but as a whole my stock remains in the closet, I have never had an issue. I know my temps are not in the normal range but I have yet to get a bad beer from it. I always toss them into a fridge to chill for 15-30 min before opening and its dead on for my taste.

I pop the top and drink, the only time my beer sits is in between sips, I like the way stouts taste as soon as you open them. For me that tends to be a good indication of the quality of the stout itself. But I'm also not a chugger

It's looking that way. Go to rethink my poll options in the future.

I've tried this too. Less than dramatic results ensued. I have heard the warm water "bath" works pretty well. Sort of the opposite version of those wine chiller tanks/barrels in liquor stores.
