Give me six beers I can pickup at total wine to try. 6 per post any style. I say at total wine because alot of beers are only available where they are made.

Total Wine has partly different stock from store to store so what I see in the mixed six section in NJ won't necessarily or available in DE. A lot of what you see there won't be what I can find around here. E.g. Around here the Yuengling Lager would be easy to find, but they don't distribute to your state.

So stick with nationally distributed brands such as:

Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale, their Stout and their Porter
    Sam Adams Boston Lager
    Anchor Old Foghorn
    Rogue Dead Guy
Your wild card in case they don't have one of those might be anyhing from Weihenstephaner.

But check the dates (except on the Old Foghorn). Don't buy any thing bottled more than 2-3 months ago or closer than 2-3 mos from its Best By date or that is undated entirely.

But your better bet is to ask your question in the Southwest forum where you'll find folks with more knowledge of what might be available in NM.

Hope you enjoy what you do find!

    +1 Sierra Nevada's Pale Ale
    Deschutes Black Butte Porter
    Bells Two Hearted IPA
    Oskar Blues Mama's Little Pils
    Boulevards Unfiltered Wheat
Just grab whatever for the sixth. Don't know unless you try it.

Love pick six; but beware! The pick six is often where old ipa's go to die...be sure to check dates!

    1. Bells
    2. Firestone Walker
    3. Oskar Blues
    4. Sierra Nevada
    5. Stone
    6. San Tan Brewing (I think they supply NM now)

I believe the list above should be easy to find at your local TW, all great companies with great beer.

My recommendation is go to a different store than Total Wine to create a mix-a-six. The single beers at my local TW are old; lots of BAs report the same thing at their TW stores.

It seem to be TW's policy to place old beer on the singles shelves.

There is a good chance that stock at a New Hampshire
This, @Gravedigger611 Good luck in your search, but as drtth pointed out, what a guy buys at a Delaware Total Wine is different than what you can buy at total wine in New Mexico. Considering that Total wine is not even in half of the country alot of us can't answer.

Isn't Founders in New Mexico? Check the bottle dates and build a Founders Brewing mix 6.

you have great beers right in your city. Start by trying La Cumbre. Their ipas are very well regarded. Start there, learn what styles you like, then branch out with Colorado beers. Then go national if you want, but a person could get by on Colorado/NM beer alone in my opinion.

La Cumbre Elevation IPA, make sure to include that one if you enjoy IPAs

I break up 6 packs for the pick six. I can confirm that old beer goes first. But. I also break up a 6 of brand new beers. So people can try 1 and buy a 6 later on if they like it.

Just to make sure I understand: you are taking single bottles from a six-pack of those beers vs. selecting from the singles shelves?

    Cheers!

I work in a liqour store. And the craft section is my area. Large store . We have a shelf for craft singles. I can confirm the older six packs get pulled as singles and put on that shelf by me. But when we get new beers one of the first things I do is break up a new delivery 6 pack into singles for the shelf too.

So, the customers need to check each bottle for the fresh beers and avoid the old beers?

    Cheers!

To comment on the people who secretly pull one bottle out of a pack and I come along later and find a 6er missing one bottle, what those people are forcing me to do is hold those in the back until a singles slot opens. So this means I cant put new delivers as singles until those old ones are gone. Making the single shelf all old beer. I wish they wouldn't do that.

Yes that's correct. Unless it's known that a beer is a new release, honestly some of those beers sit for months. But a spot opens and I put up singles of a new release asap. I try and keep it as fresh as I can but only the beer manager has control to throw old stuff away. I can only wait until a spot opens to put new stuff. But it happens pretty often.

Save your time (and probably energy) and buy a local mixed 12-15 pack that has a mix of 3-4 beers in each and is probably the same price as a mixed 6 of singles. Depending on the brewery (our local breweries have mixed 12 packs at TW) canned date might even be on the box. Even a Stone mixed 12'er is probably similarly priced to 6 inflated-price singles.

I haven't been to a Total Wine in years (none in my state), but If I remember correctly, the ones I've been to did not have a singles section, but rather, allowed the costumer to break sixers. If I'm remembering correctly, then it must vary by store (or state).
