Did anyone else have issues with the cork on their Wild Raspy bottles from B2? I bent my crappy corkscrew trying to get it out.

Per their release email, the Party Pinata description:

"This one is filled to the brim with goodies. We packed as much pineapple and coconut flavor into this crazy complex beer using our proprietary Sour IPA techniques. Get ready for the full Pina Colada experience"

I'd be interested to know what makes this a "proprietary Sour IPA technique" or is it just a marketing ploy?

Long term forecast is looking like it was a smart idea to move releases inside for the winter. We'll see if and when the snow actually comes, but I'll be damn grateful to be inside if it starts early next Saturday.

Good question! I don't want to delve into exact details (obviously) but since this is a fledgling style, there isn't an accepted way to do it, and there are plenty of potential pitfalls when you look at the amounts of various fruits and the hops involved. So we've had to hone in on our own techniques. I called it proprietary because it's something that Eric, the crew and I came up with independently (although we suspect a few other great breweries may be doing the same thing). The conversation on this method started the day after Thanksgiving last year if I remember correctly.

Hey, that sucks! This was our first bottling run since 2005... definitely better at canning it looks like. Are you going to be at the next release? Come say hi and we'll make it right.

Unfortunately not, have Broadway tickets for tomorrow, pretty bummed to be missing two in a row and this one looks like a really good one too. Hopefully will be able to make it for February.

Sure. Fairly new to posting on BA but I've been with Sixpoint for 7 years now. Started as a content writer and keg washer. I now work on our product team helping to run our tasting panel, seeking to improve existing beers and innovate to create new ones. It's an amazing position that I'm lucky to have. With Shane taking a step back I wanted to make sure people still heard from us.

Happy to answer any other questions about myself or otherwise.

Also, I'm at almost every can release so perhaps we have met or will soon!

This version of Party Hat is a definite improvement over the first batch. The Galaxy and Nelson are working really well together so far, but I think in a couple weeks it will be at its best. That said, right out of the gate it's one of the best (and perhaps the best) NEIPAs that Sixpoint has made: tons of pineapple, a little diesel, some soft Sauvignon Blanc-like stone fruit notes like apricot, a little bubblegum as well. Has a solid bitterness to it without being overpowering, mouthfeel pretty great as well.

Party Pinata is exactly as billed -- a sour IPA with a lot of pineapple and a good serving of coconut. I dislike coconut very much, so that makes the beer not my favorite, but it does exactly what they wrote about it. Haven't had Party Favors on a fresh palate yet.
