Sixpoint 4Beans Imperial Porter

Anyone in Atlanta, this can be found at hop city. Even though they don't distribute in GA...

 

I don't get the love for this one, but those who love it more power to you. I get more metallic taste out of it than anything else, cold and warm.

 

We can't get Sixpoint around here, so when I was in Baltimore on business a couple weeks ago I grabbed a 4-pack. Finally had a chance to drink one tonight. I really enjoyed it, especially after it warmed a bit. Once again the wise counsel of BA members did not lead me astray.

 

It's sweeter....but I wouldn't say it's overly sweet. Victory at Sea is sweet, Creme Brulee is sweet, 4 Beans is sweeter than a regular porter but it's not really all that sweet in comparison.

 

I enjoyed this beer, think a barrel aged version would be great.

 

I loved it and rated it 4.25 overall, the flavor was world class (4.5). The body was a tad thin and the head volume wasn't quite world class nor was retention.

 

Finally found some tonight. Win.

 

I had a can of this last night. Great smell, but the flavors just aren't as good in my opinion. It's still a tasty beer overall.

 

Is this going to see distribution in California?

 

Got an opportunity to pick up a four-pack of this while in Chicagoland, assisting the girlfriend's parents with some home remodeling. Beautiful stuff - deep and rich flavor, with all the adjuncts discernible in waves.

That one will not be my last four pack.

This came and went in Des Moines pretty fast, but I was able to grab one 4-pk. Have to say, it's probably the best porter I've ever had. Fantastic stuff!

 

Im saving my last one until the first big snowfall this year. But i look at it sitting on the shelf in my closet everyday. Almost drank it the other day. Must be patient.

 

Tried one over the weekend. The coffee flavor is incredible, but I think the booziness/sweetness takes away from the brew as a whole. Not sure if I'd pick it up again.

 

Probably a late reply, but I picked up a couple 4 packs at Liquor Barn. They still have some left on the shelf as of last Friday.

Had a couple out of my 4 pack. Good, and 10% well hidden, but thought there was too much hype on this one.

 

Well, that's an endorsement for me to pick up an extra 4-pack for cellaring if I've ever heard one.

I'm not sure how much improvement it needs, but is there any chance of this being a regular or semi-regular seasonal? I'd be all about a few packs of this a year.

 

Yeah, I had the thought of saving some but I see it every time I go to the bottle shop I figure "meh, it'll be around" and wind up drinking what I have an buying more.
