Still waiting to see it in CNY myself.
I walked into the beer store yesterday and they had moved all the Sixpoint to the front. Cans upon cans of Resin, Crisp, Bengali, JAmmer, but no 4Beans. I had gotten my hopes up when I saw that display, but still waiting.

Found some in Northern NJ on Friday ($13.99).

First can had plenty of coffee taste, but no vanilla. Will try another can this week.

While I haven't tried it yet, according to the brewer's description of how and why vanilla beans are used in 4beans, the vanilla is supposed to be part of the background that ties things together rather than something up front and out front. So you might not notice it in the next one you have either.

According to that link, the vanilla actually accentuates the chocolate flavor more. Which makes sense, since the chocolate flavor predominated for me. And thinking more about it, I think that's where this beer was a letdown for me - was hoping for more coffee and less chocolate. Especially given that they use Mast Brothers chocolate (don't get me started on that stuff).

Picked it up at the Loft at Iron Abbey last week but I think it's gone now.

Based on the 4Beans thread in "Beer Releases", it seems some get a lot of vanilla and some don't.
I thought there would be a 'hint' of vanilla but got none. No chocolate flavor either, all coffee.

That's interesting given that someone else responding to that same post was saying all he was getting was chocolate and was disappointed because he'd wanted coffee but wasn't getting it...

Yea, that's me. I should clarify that I definitely tasted coffee, but the chocolate predominated for me. I've actually seen a decent number of comments saying one of the two flavors predominated, split pretty evenly, so must be a palate thing? I have another can at home I might try tonight and I'll see if results vary.

Yeah could be the variability in the palate from person to person, but trying it out again should be interesting. I personally find that my palate can vary from day to day, depending in part on what I've eaten, etc. (Which is why with a new beer I like to get a 4 or 6 pack and review the 3rd beer... :-).)

Drinking again now. Get a lot of coffee on the nose and the taste immediately follows with coffee, but it quickly seems to be overwhelmed with chocolate. Still a good beer, but not exactly the taste profile I was hoping for. Can't quite put my finger on what's missing but it just doesn't blow me away like I hoped.

It was definitely coffee heavy for me, although did get the background vanilla the description alludes to. I enjoyed it more than my memories of 3 Beans, and very reasonably priced.
