Not only a live stream but a two way tasting, with an exchange of beers and both sides doing some tasting and, more importantly, commenting and sharing of thoughts and ideas about brewing of the beers being tasted.

(Also you might give some thought to the idea and possibilities of an electronic collaboration to do a collaborative beer.)

My only comment on Bierkeller Helles: "Overrated."

We could possibly do our respective Koelsches, too. :sunglasses:

    Full-on 12-pack -- didn't see six-packs... which is why I didn't pick it up. Yet.

I'm really happy they put it in 12 packs because 6 just isn't enough. Once you try it, you'll understand what I mean

You tried the GI Summer Hours lager? What did you think?

No, I have not. Have you? Looks interesting but 33 IBU seems just a tad higher than I was expecting. I'm sure it'll be decent though

Sent the wife on a hunt for Alpenflo this past weekend but she came up empty. Well, not entirely... she did come back with a 4-pack of Barrel-Aged Righteous Ale, which is delicious, but that's for another thread.

Anyways, I finally found some Alpenflo last night and it's in the fridge chilling. Going to give it a go tonight. The anticipation is killing me.

I just looked at the BA ratings and I think you're being a little hard on the beer.

I seriously just can’t stop fawning over Alpenflo. After a long day of work not many beers hit the spot like a nice, well-made lager and this one certainly that. Obligatory pic in case you forgot what a gorgeous Helles bier looks like; no filters required!

(Would’ve snapped a pic yesterday but weather was shitty and the pic I took indoors of my maßkrug didn’t do it justice)

    Cheers everyone!

I just got home with a 12 pack, and as psyched as I am it'll have to wait. The store just got them in stock and none were refrigerated.

Fwiw, this was at my local Bottle King chain store in NJ, and they seem to have ordered overly cautiously (only 3 cases worth). I'm sure I can help prove them wrong before too long .

That would be cool. We'd have to get the proper glassware for that one too. :sunglasses:

that's why we did it! although, would you be opposed to us putting this in 6-packs as well, and making it part of the core lineup?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and seeing your review for this one. cheers!

if that truly has no filter, that is awesome...what phone did you snap that photo with? it would be great to put you in touch with this beer on draft...

please keep us updated on that...from what we gather, so many places were actually hyper-conservative with this beer...mostly because I believe they underestimate how many people like these styles....we are actually glad they were light on their initial orders, as that will allow us to guarantee the first wave of shipments should evaporate quickly....together we can build the true grassroots demand for this lager renaissance organically - the only way!

Absolutely not. If 6 packs means year-round and more people are willing to try it then absolutely it’s a good idea. All I need to do is grab 2 sixers instead (or a case more likely)

A shitty old iPhone 6 but I’m happy with it. I think it might’ve been in “HDR” mode but yeah, no filter; natural lighting always wins (shit, with a beer name like Alpenflo I’m sure you can agree lol). Will keep an eye open for tap listings on beermenus and untappd

I wonder if the 12 pack only format is preventing it from being carried in the NYC area. Not too many places have room for 12 packs besides Bud, Coors and the occasional Sam Adams. Finding Sierra Nevada variety packs is a rare treat around here.

    You're exactly right @ecpho

NYC is largely a six-pack town, with the "single serving" format also popular and some 4-packs as well. But the 12-pack really doesn't gain much traction in any delis/bodegas around town. The only avenue for prominent distribution is grocery stores and other chain stores - which is why there is a slight delay because they need corporate authorizations and activations to bring all of the products in. I can assure you its incredibly frustrating.

I think its time for us to explore the idea of also doing 6-packs of this beer. It would make it that much more accessible to a wider variety of people. I am not suggesting we eliminate the 12-packs, but I think there is room for both formats.

    What do you think?
