Well, I guess I assumed the very change was going from not-sour to sour, as that's exactly what I (and others seem to have) experienced. Assuming that is the very change in question, I don't get how anything other than bugs could be responsible.

Below is how Sixpoint describes Apollo on their website:

    “Apollo

    Summer

The unmistakable flavor of a Bavarian Wheat, but with a clear golden brilliance and a Sixpoint twist. An entirely unique canned offering for the sun-worshipping ale lovers.”

I no longer have a can of Apollo available for me to read but I do recall Sixpoint mentioning “tart” on the can description.

So, since the intent of this beer is to be a “Bavarian Wheat” why is Sixpoint ‘designing’ this beer to sour with time? That makes absolutely no sense to me?

    Cheers!

Just to add on to this, something I considered mentioning a couple days ago but didn't is that I'd be very surprised if a large brewing facility like Lion, which would be responsible for the quality control of many other products, would be bugging up individual canning runs.

Nine months before the "best by" date. I've spoken to my regional Sixpoint rep several times about it.

It's interesting they mention that because I've noticed that there is significant variation in best by dates for beers released right around the same time. This is usually easy to track when they release a new beer. I noticed it with Bengali Tiger (when Sixpoint first started canning) and Resin.

Thanks. I received an e-mail from them today, and posted it another thread. It's been updated on the beer freshness website as well.
