If my search was done correctly I'm led to believe that this one slid by us with little fanfare...

Dropped recently at one of my local shops and I came here to read up on it, but couldn't find anything. IIPA w/ Citra and Galaxy...

The one description for it describes it as hazy golden. Is this a NE styled IPA?

    according to the Sixpoint website:

    Lab Notes
Binary is a hybrid between the old school, west coast IPA, and the hazy New England Style. It’s got a huge tropical and citrus hop aroma and a smooth, medium bitterness.

At only 40IBU it is probably going to be reminiscent of NE

Had one last night. Not as hoppy as I like IPAs of this size, but definitely not a NEIPA either. Great beer though and if you like more tropical-flavored IPAs it's definitely worth checking out.

I agree. Other than having a nicely fruity hop profile I found it much more like an older school DIPA. I enjoyed it well enough, but I actually found it a bit too maltily sweet in the way some west coast DIPAs could be.

Bargain at $12 for the six pack though.

Scored a 6er of this at Norfolk TW, looking forward to it

Agree with all of this. I wish it were a touch dryer in the finish, but overall it's a great value at $12. Also, I don't drink many DIPAs and MUCH prefer the ones closer to 8% abv than the 10+% beasts of old.

I keep seeing this and passing because I am in the mood for something else at the time but it does look good and I plan on trying at some point.

I picked up a sixer on Friday, I really enjoyed it. Super fruity.

Any ideas if this is getting full distribution? I haven’t seen it in my part of SC

They didn't bring it to GABF. Curious as to why. Resin was there, which seems to already be a well-established beer. I'd think they would want to promote the new beer as much as possible considering how tough shelf competition is nowadays.

Not sure why this got little/no hype. Sixpoint is a bit frustrating these days. They hyped the shit out of Alpenflo and it never showed up in the Cleveland, Oh area. Then this shows up with zero press. Anyway, once I read that this had Galaxy and Citra I pulled the trigger. I thought it was really good.

Bought a six, gave the last two away. Nothing about it stands out. YMMV.

Hey guys first BA post here. Filling in for Shane today

Very accurate - we actually made some key updates to Meltdown (the next IPA in the series) to get rid of that caramel-y malty note and achieve better balance. Some tweaks to the malt bill and kettle pressure. Pretty pumped for that one.

Good questions! I was pouring there this year and also helped to pick the beers. At a fest like that, we basically have to pour Resin or we end up having a disappointing conversation with dozens of people. Especially since in Colorado people can't actually even get their hands on Resin.

Binary we didn't have main room but we did pour it at Paired on Thursday and Friday. If you can shell out the $$$ that event is pretty sweet.

I think Binary got a little lost in the shuffle since we've released many limited IPAs in the past year but no lagers, plus Alpenflo got a little extra push since it's actually year round. That's a bummer about Cleveland - we'll talk to our team there for sure.

Glad you were digging Binary though. We're working on a bunch of new concepts for IPAs in the rotating series that we debuted with Binary, so there will be new stuff on shelves pretty often!

Looking forward to getting Alpenflo in Lancaster, PA but it is nowhere to be found and according to the Sixpoint find beer search, it is nowhere in PA. When do you think we’ll see it? I’ve had some and it’s a really good Helles.
