    Why does Sizpoint not put the style of the beer on their packaging? That seems kind of strange. Or is it there and I'm just blind and slow?

    Their motto is "brew to taste, not style."

    I thought it might be something like that, thanks for clearing that up.

    I understand it now, but I still think it's kind of a poor decision. Maybe they should add a more prominent description of what to expect flavor wise in the beer. I feel like most people rely on the style type when picking a beer, and having abv and IBU is only helpful to a certain extent IMO.

    Oh well, whatever works for you I guess.

    Ya this actually really bothers me. There have been multiple times I'm in the store and looking at sixpoint thinking about grabbing some but I pass because I don't know what style it is or what to expect.

    Global Warmer, winter seasonal with the word "warmer" in the title. Not a winter warmer

    I guess that's a little bit of an answer, seems like they're going out of their way to seem edgy/hip by not "being confined to a style"

    /remembers where sixpoint is located
    //makes more sense

    I watched an interview with the brewer/owner of Sixpoint done by the BeerGeekNation guy a while back. I had to switch it off about halfway through...listening to that dude is exhausting.

    How many people actually know what the SRM actually means??? I'm guessing way lower than how many understand ABV and IBU..

    This was annoying. They specifically go out of their way to say they don't brew to style and it doesn't fit a style but then people make comments along the lines of "it seems like a barleywine to me but I didn't like it" and "its too sweet for an IPA" and sixpoint says "well its more of a triple IPA so it shouldnt be judged as an IPA/ barleywine. Well then how bout you tell us its a triple IPA so we can judge it accordingly?!? Definitely not making me want to put forth effort to try their beers. Ill continue to let the hipster packaging sit on the shelf.

    Well of course I knew that.. because I'm a genius.. but I doubt 50 percent of craft drinkers have a clue... and I put seconds of thought into that percentage guess!

    I thought BAs knew everything about beer. The responses on most of these threads makes it seem that way. I like that they don't put anything on the packaging mentioning styles. I think people spend too much time trying to put brewer's beers into a specific classification and saying "it isn't done well to style." I get having a point of reference for what you're about to get yourself into but at the end of the day I'd say "is the beer good?" If yes then look deeper into it and if not then move on.

    "How I love thee. Let me count the ways." Great point @BeerSocrates12

    The label could tell you everything in the world. Only your mouth and nose will tell you if you like the beer or not. More than half of us look at what other people think on BA anyway before buying most beer.

    Or you could just go to their website. Fun fact: most breweries have them nowadays and they even post pictures of what the beer looks like in glasses.

    Seriously, when did this forum mainly become Beer Bitching.........(yes, there's irony there, if you don't know what that is look it up).

    I usually look for a particular style of beer when I'm at the store. That's the problem with the packaging. Maybe I just don't know enough about SRM and I'm just an idiot like that. For me the style the beer is advertised as being is what drives me to purchase the beer. When I have little idea of what to expect from a beer then I also have little chance of purchasing it, and I personally don't get enough information from ABV, SRM, and IBU to know what to expect from a Sixpoint beer. It doesn't tell you anything about how sweet the beer might be, if there are any spices/herbs/fruits in the beer, if it is aged... But that's just me, others might look for a certain IBU and SRM, but I've yet to meet that person.
