If you follow Sixpoint's blog you'll see the great Apollo has moved to draft and we'll be seeing a new seasonal in cans which I can only guess is a juiced up Berliner Weisse. 3.2 ABV, 7 IBUs and described on can as an ale brewed with fruit juices

I'm sad to see Apollo go, but I'm psyched otherwise.

    Link imbedded in Apollo announcement.

2 Years ago I loved Apollo but last years version was too much of that banana hefe yeast or something. We'll see how this radler goes.

This bums me out a whole lot. Apollo is my favorite summer brew and I loved the tallboy cans. Perfect for by the pool, at the beach, grilling, etc. :slight_frown:

bizarre, apollo was one of their better beers IMO. guess consumers don't agree with me.

    @Sixpoint-

Can you give us any info on Rad? It sounds tasty. What fruit juices were used?

not that I really care but, I would have made the apollo cans available through the summer and then discontinued them.

I thought that at first, then thought, nah, Sixpoint wouldn't expect its customers to get excited over a Radler...which seems to be a drink more common to BMC and Non-beer drinkers.

    Are you certain?

i think that's exactly the market Sixpoint is targeting. depends on what you mean by certain. i'm about 95% sure!

"a unique blend of fruit juices with ale" - sure sounds like a radler to me. doesn't sound like a berliner weisse.

The front of the can puts ale before juice...the back does the opposite.

I can't see people getting excited by this unless they have gone and done soemthing that puts this Radler on a playing field of its own.

In any event, I remain hopeful.

Edit. The bicycle wheel on the package confirms Radler to me

the term on the front of the can is a legal thing, as far as i understand it. similarly to "a flavored stout" on front of KBS

It sat where I live until it went out of code. I got too much of that banana last year to enjoy it.

Apollo is sitting around GA everywhere. They sent the distributor an old batch (Best by Sep.23, 2013) and most stores accepted it. No one has bought it though due to the obvious age.

Bittersweet - Apollo is what first cemented my interest in craft beer, which is strange, since I didn't actually like it all that much (a little too tart for me).
