Does anyone know if there is a listing somewhere of which craft breweries offer sixtel kegs? I dont want to play back and forth with my local shop if the beers I want arent even offered in this keg size.

    Thanks.

You have to do the back and forth because just because a brewery packages in sixths, it doesn't mean your shops distributor will carry it, or the shop will carry it. It isn't that big of a deal, get a few beers on your list and send an email asking about price and availability.

Thanks Doug. I just sent a list to the shop like you said. I just wasnt sure if there was an easier way. I appreciate your time.

I actually just set up an account with great brewers dot com and you can click through the different brewers, select a beer, and it will show what volumes it is available in.

Though my shop did say that they could get Lagunitas IPA in a 7.5 gal keg and that isnt listed on greatbrewers site. Ugh.

There are always lots of exceptions a list can't tell you. You are going to have to ask about price and availability anyway so you can knock it out in one email to your shop of choice.

Our distributor has a list of all kegs and sizes they carry. I find what I want, then have my shop order it. Maybe you can get a hold of your dist. and do the same.

Thanks. On the Greatbrewers website you can regionalize a sort and look at specific distributors.

Great brewers lists what kegs the brewery uses, but kegs can be regional. Stone does use sixtels, but they are west coast only. We only get stone half barrels on the east.

Good to know. Id like to try to keep it local anyhow with something from Pretty Things or some Wachusett Larry would be nice but Ive never bought them so just need to find out whats around.

    I appreciate your time.

I usually give a call to my local place that gets kegs for me and see if it's available in a sixtel...if not, no biggie, more often than not we'll go with either a 1/4 keg or 1/2. Since owning a kegerator for the past couple of years, you remember what's available in logs and so forth.

Thanks. I brew as well and have a single tap (for now) so would need to fit 2 side by side.

Nice. Ive only ever had cornys in mine so I cant gauge other ones. Kegerators are mostly standard size right?

Not sure. I have a Haier

I have a 4.5 sq/ft Kegerator and I will need to modify the interior to be able to fit a commercial keg and a corny keg. I can fit 2 corny's in there with very little room to spare, especially with the co2 bottle.

They are not. You need to look at the other variants of the model you have. I have a Haier which is sold as a single, double or triple tap. It will hold three sixths, or two slim quarters or a standard quarter or half. Some other brands are only sold as single taps and will not hold that much. Edgestar for instance will hold two sixths. Depends on the brand.

You might want to revisit that if you want Stone, I am in CT and have a sixth of IPA on right now.

It was a few years ago that I inquired.
