What to do with this beer? I don't think I've seen a beer with so many mixed reviews. One of the coolest beer names and artwork but I'm not sure if I want to open it just yet. Does anyone know the percent on this beer? I have two bottles and was thinking about aging them to see if the flavor gets better but thought I would throw this one out to the BA experts.

Since you have two, why don't you drink one now and lay the other one down? Then you could see first hand if it develops better with age.

My concern is could I even age it. I can't find any info on it.

I drank mine a couple weeks ago. I really enjoyed it. It tastes like those chocolate oranges you get from King Soopers. I definitely think it would be a good beer to age, I am just not that patient. Drink one now, age the other one I say

I have an extra bottle if you're interested in trading.

What would you want in return for this? I've wanted to try this for some time.

I enjoy sours or bourbon barrel beers. Send me a list of what you have.

Post an FT thread since that's obviously what you want to do with it?

I always thought this community was free of trolls. I guess I was wrong. The whole purpose of this thread was to try and find out the % of this beer so I could know if I could keep it and age it. Someone posted that they were looking for it. Since no one has any idea if you can age it (the %) I thought I would offer up one of mine.

Yep. I'm a troll...good call. Maybe I'll have to learn how to use those tweeny emoticons to get my point across next time.

I'm pretty sure this was based on the Local 14 (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/923/55522), which I had my last bottle 3 months ago. My comment at the time, "This one aged fantastically over 2 years."

There are some differences though, with the new one being far more "orangey" than Local 14. (I understand the orange peel got away from them this year.) The orange in the previous version was still present even after two years, unlike the Merlot Stout where the wine had all but disappeared. I'm also pretty sure the 14 was aged in bourbon barrels and this was just aged on oak, so you will have a lower ABV. Overall though I think there is a good chance for positive results with age. (And in fact picked up 6 bottles while I was in Durango this week to do just that with some of them.)

Nice, thanks for that. I've been looking all over for that %. I might have to see how it does with a little age.
