I'm guessing that a catch all thread about great beer options (bars, bottle shops, breweries) in ski country would be of use to a number of people. I'll kick it off... I'm driving up to Bretton Woods on Friday. We are skiing Bretton on Saturday, heading to Jefferson (Santa's Village of course) on Sunday. Any bars with great beer selections in this area? I've found nothing hunting around online. For the drive up, hitting the Woodstock Brewery may be a family friendly option for dinner that lets me get some good beers in. Any guidance is appreciated!
If you are looking for good beer, you won't find it at Woodstock Inn. Their beer ranges from bad to terrible. Although their meatloaf sandwich is really good. For good beer I've heard there is a burger place in Lincoln with some good beers. Don't know what it's called or what they might have.
Moat Mountain in N Conway. Iron Mike Pale, Czech Pils, and Hell Yes all top notch beers. The Bone Shaker Brown is very good too just not my style. Also hear Impy Stout is very good. As for Woodstock Inn they are average to good. IPA fresh off taps gets it done and Pigs Ears and 2X Pigs Ears are solid for malty beer fans. It's worth a stop off exit 32 to hit Wayne's in N Woodstock. Its a meat market but one of the better beer selections in area.
Dito that the beer at Woodstock Inn is not worth bothering with. I found Moat Mt IPA to be fair at best. I'd be safe and bring some good stuff with me.
Black Mtn Burger in Lincoln. Very good beer list, outstanding food. My life began again when I had their poutine.
Unfortunately, NH ski country is not beer country. I don’t mind Woodstock Inn. I usually stop in when passing through (mainly because there’s really not much else in Lincoln for beer spots). It’s not great beer but most of it is OK. If you’re passing through North Conway (on the way back maybe) then Moat Mt is worth visiting, as others have said. But then if you’re in North Conway, and you don’t mind driving 40 min out of the way into Maine, I’d hit Ebenezer’s. But having a family in tow probably makes that hard. Enjoy Bretton. Although the vertical stinks there, I think they typically have some of the best conditions in NH, their glades are a lot of fun, and they’re very family friendly. I always say Bretton needs more restaurants nearby. Sorely lacking. The closest is Faybyan’s, about half mile from the resort… it’s a simple, family friendly place that has usually has a couple craft options on tap, most likely Tuckerman’s and Long Trail. Next place is The Pizza Pub another mile down the road. I forget what they have for beer but I think most people treat it more as a take out spot IIRC.
Nice, hadn't heard of this place. I'll have to check it out next time I'm in that area... always felt a good beer spot was lacking up there.
If you're going up/down I-93 it's definitely worth stopping at Biederman's Deli in Plymouth for a sandwich (the Balboa will rock your world). Good tap selection with a lot of NH brews (Moat Mountain, Stoneface(!), Tuckermans, Woodstock). Chase Street Market upstairs also has a good selection of bottles, albeit on the pricey side.
Yeah, Biederman's Deli has a very good tap list (Founders Breakfast Stout on tap right now). Moat Mountain is good. The Red Fox in Glen generally has good options a damned good steak. If you are in Conway, Ebenezer's is only about 20 minutes away, but Chris is generally only there on Sundays this time of year. That's about it...
