I'll be traveling to Stone Harbor on May 21st and was going to hit up Glasstown Brewing on the way out, but was surprised to hear there's a new brewery within the area called Slack Tide Brewing. Anyone been to this one yet? Looks like it opened at the tail end of 2015.
A group of 10 or so of us do a huge tasting in Avalon every January and we stopped there prior to starting this year. The setup of the brewery itself was really small, although I believe hey have new equipment since then. The guys working work extremely nice and talked with all of us in length. I liked their regular IPA the best out of the flight I did.
It's on my way in or out of Stone Harbor, so figured I'd chance it. Worst case scenario I end up at Glasstown Brewery.
Not too bad for just opening up, not really blown away by anything but I like the atmosphere, will probly check them out again sometime this summer.
I might try to do both, but duly noted. If it comes down to going on Sunday, I might just do Glasstown that day then. But I'll be in the area from Friday - Sunday so there's a chance for a quick trip there.
Did Slack Tide on Saturday. Not a bad place. It's bigger than I expected it to be. Their Pale Ale and Session were pretty good. Did not really care for the stout though. Having it on Nitro didn't make it any better either.
I'd do Ludlam Island over Slacktide for sure. But they are less than 10 minutes apart so no reason to not hit up both. And to answer your question I was there a month ago and everything I tried was pretty average no real standouts.
