Firestone DBA and Double DBA I think are both underrated and under appreciated. Both are great, I think DBA doesn't get much attention because it's not a hop forward beer, but I love the toasted caramel and toffee notes, and it's drinkability.

Just had Anchor Steam Beer for the first time yesterday, very good. I've seen it dozens of times and never bothered to buy it. I'd also add Anchor California Lager as another beer that surprised me.

Sleeper beer: Double Rohypnol IPA (sorry, I couldn't resist...)

    In all seriousness:
    • Chimay Blue and Chimay White, particularly with some age on them
    • Ten Fidy--I used to pass by this one all the time because I used to think the price point was a little steep.

I slept on Ten Fidy for a long time because I figured it was mostly hype. I learned recently that it actually is very good. Cheers, OB.

I pass up Old Raspy all the time and have no idea why. It really is a top notch brew. I'll have to say it took me forever to pull the trigger on Orval. When I found out what it was I went to my bottle shop and bought then out. Lol. The GI sisters just sit around here as well... I bought a 2013 Bomber of Sofie recently for like $4.

@breadwinner which dank did you have? The first time I had it the hop profile was juocy and tropical, the second time was a bitter piney bomb.

DFH 90 min slept on this one for a long time because it was everywhere around here. Finally bought a 4 pack had my first one and I said now I get it.

Old Rasputin and Narwhal a couple others that I skipped over for a long time.

It was back in December '14. It definitely leaned more to the tropical and, well, dank side of things -- sort of that fresh pungent/savory hop thing, perhaps a touch of onion to it. Soft and a bit hazy. I do think they play with the hop bill each time, IIRC. @erway can fill in if he likes.

Good one. Remarkably (and sadly)--to this day--I have not tried SN Narwhal. It's one of those ubiquitous brews that I think to myself maybe next time.

Founders Porter. No hype, no gimmicks, no unwarranted bottle formats, no extortionate prices, readily available. Just the perfect example of a straightforward porter, in my opinion

Modern Times in general was like that for me. Had their stuff recommended to me a few times, but nothing about their design or styles initially intrigued me. Finally cracked and got a 4pk of Booming Rollers and loved it. Realize now that they are great at everything they do.

From what I have read the hop schedule changes batch to batch for sure. I love and hate that beer for that reason though. I like tropical and citrus, the dank and onion not so much. I never know what it will be.

Another sleeper that I almost forgot - Highland Oatmeal Porter. That's an excellent porter - one of the best I've had - but it's also just a standard shelf beer in the southeast, so many people pass it up without even taking a look.

I guess your palate doesn't agree with what happens when Calypso and Mosaic get together. That's ok.

Off Color Yuzu Fierce, Oskar Blues Ten Fidy - Both are easy to find on shelves (Yuzu when it was distributed) and are know for being great beers locally (Yuzu Fierce) and nationally (Ten Fidy).

Jesus this beer is top notch. And in stock everywhere.

Every single time I have this, I'm surprised at how good it is.

Havent found one better. Finally had one side by side with my other fave (Weyerbacher), and was kinda sad that Schlafly came out on top for me.

Hop Stoopid for me -- maybe it was graphic design or the low price point but I now look back on all the money I could have saved drinking that instead of lesser quality, higher-priced IPA's and kick myself.
