I'm not sure i'm following correctly... Bell's Two Hearted is their biggest seller. I don't think Oberon is close... It's a seasonal after-all. Two Hearted pays the bills for Bell's, no doubt.

But again, not sure if I was following what you were pointing out correctly.

When did Two Hearted pass Oberon? For many many years, Oberon was the biggest seller by far. They did up production of dry hopped beers with the new fermenters.

Probably still is. From this in May 2013.

"Oberon is definitely the flagship, not only for the wheat beer category at Bell’s, but also for Bell’s in general. We sell more Oberon during Oberon season than we do any other year-round beer. That’s being closely challenged by Two-Hearted [IPA], but it’s still the most popular beer we sell."

Well hell... i decided to do some research and found that Oberon and Two Hearted are #'s 1 and 2 in sales for Bell's. Apparently it's awfully close too. I admit that i'm shocked. Not for quite a few years have I really known a lot of people to be diggin on Oberon. Though, Two Hearted is in most of my friends coolers all the time.

    Wow.

Chicks dig Oberon more. Guys will buy Oberon over Two Hearted if ladies that dig Oberon be present. Never underestimate the male sex drive.

P.S. No offense to you if you actually are a man that prefers Oberon to Two Hearted.

Good point I think it's either the stores or distributors making a killing, I'm not a fan of KBS, but I remember that Founders was charging significantly less at the brewery than pretty much every store I saw it at.

I think it is worth noting that Oberon is brewed year round and distributed to Puerto Rico, Florida, Arizona and parts of Alabama.

As far as prices go, Founders has always been pretty middle of the road, but off the charts in terms of quality you get for the price. The value is incredible. If anyone wants a hard, stiff slap in the face when it comes to prices, come to Utah. The state legislature controls the beer sales - they determine who gets to sell here, how powerful (ABV) the stuff can be (nothing higher than 3.2% in any non-government-run liquor store), and how much they can charge. Last week, I paid a total of $18.94 for a 6 pack of the following, all 12oz selections: Two Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPAs, two Wasatch Brewing Company Pale Riders, a Big Sky (MT) Moose Drool and a Big Sky Trout Slayer. Good beers? Yeah, sure. But at nearly $20 a six pack, I sorely miss the days of dropping $9-10 on a 6 pack of Red's Rye.

I have to agree with you on this. Auto manufacturers will often develop a "halo" car to create a buzz and help drive sales on their other products. But with the higher cost of materials, engineering and low production volumes, their profit margins are very slim. Often they will lose money on every unit. The hope is to get brand recognition. I would think that brewers such as Founders might be using the same strategy with their limited releases. Too bad FBS was infected this year:grinning:

Hey, wait a minute. I just remembered that when I first saw FBS this year I pulled one out of the cooler to check that is was this year's, rubbed the date to get the condensation off of it and it came right off. I think Founders is on the ropes if they can't even afford good quality yellow ink, knowwhatimsayin?
