Does anyone know how far out Sly fox dates their stuff? Can I assume it's 180 days, or is it a year?

The can I have is best by 12/29/14, 360 IPA.

It is not 180 days or a year.

I do not know the definitive timeframe for you; I purchased a case of Oktoberfest last year which had a best by date the first week of December. For that brand of beer maybe it is 4 months?

    Cheers!

These dates are on the bottom of the cans, right?

Maybe call Sly Fox and ask? Interestingly their website doesn't give you an email address to contact them like most, but you could leave your question as a "comment/suggestion"

Funny, I was going to refer you to @JackHorzempa and then he responded before I could get my post out. ;-) From what I can tell he's pretty much the Philly-area beer expert, or he knows someone that does have answers.

Correct. My Distro said it was brand new, which sold me. After getting home I researched it on BA and found out that thats not the case.

Could'nt be 4 months. Unless... this beer's from the future, cool!

A barely readable 12/29/14 best by.

I would guess most best bys are 6 months. I bought some Modus Hoperandi, best by is nov 14, I counted back and it was I would guess 2 months old. It tasted like it.

“The can I have is best by 12/29/14, 360 IPA.”

Did you add that via an edit? I did not see that before.

My guess is that your beer was canned on July 29. 2014 and Sly Fox is using a 5 month best by timeframe for that brand of beer.

Victory uses a 5 month best by timeframe for a number of their beers (e.g., Prima Pils, HopDevil, etc.).

It is important to understand that breweries will often use different best by timeframes for their varying brands of beer.

    Cheers

By the way just pulled one out of the freezer after about 25 min. and gave it a taste. Hops are not huge but still very present, not so much in aroma but in taste. So it must be kinda fresh. I'm guessing a 6/29/14 canning. Overall an underwhelming beer though. It's not bad but not that good either. Thought I'd give ol' Sly Fox another chance thinking that maybe now they got it right ( like Long Trail Limbo ). $35.99 for tall boy's had me, now I know why. Damn, should of got those Two Hearted tall boy's from 6/25/14!!

Yeah, that was an edit. If this was canned just a week ago than i would expect a big hoppy nose and flavor. It's possible that I'm just holding it to my standards like fresh Two Hearted.

    Thanks and cheers!

It is pretty new. Not sure its the same beer as last year or not. Can is different. I am on my second case. Its a pretty juicy IPA. Drinks better from the can I think. The best by 19 Oct cans had a few off cans in the case. I bought my first case 4th of July and was told it had just come in.

    Enjoy
