There was nothing at all, as you say, "dickish" from anybody. Whether that be brewers, or people posting here. Just a few beer releases, and it is not uncommon for Freetail and Jester King releases to overlap.

I am most certainly not cool, mostly because I won't be able to make this, but lots of other reasons as well :slight_frown: Just trying to reiterate that nobody is really "dickish" here. Back to my Real Heavy, and John Prine.

And this thread started off so happy and positive....

In other news, I won't be there today. Have fun, be safe, don't drive drunk, and I'll miss seeing all of you.

Had a great time drinking with great beer buddies at one of my favorite breweries.

I couldn't find my FoBAB tasting glass when I departed, but figured someone accidentally picked it up.

Anyone see it or might have it?

This is what it looks like. [IMG]

    From the Freetail website:

"#WHALEZBRO is what we hope will become an annual series featuring a blend of hand-picked barrels from our wood-aging program. We hope to release this beer every year at Super Mega Awesome Bottle Release Day, withholding the details of the blend until the day after.

2015 (Released August 29, 2015): 20% La Muerta 2015 aged in Elijah Craig 12 barrels (hint... Elijah Craig 12 La Muerta is coming in 2015...); 40% brown ale refermented with molasses in Woodford Reserve barrels; 40% young Flanders Red aged in red wine barrels with lactobacillus, pediococcus & brettanomyces (specifically, this is 1-year old Flanders that will eventually be aged for up to 3 years and blended with younger vintages to create the end product in 2017). This beer is bottle conditioned and should be expected to evolve and mature in the bottle if stored properly. 7.1% ABV, 34 IBU."

Hey guys... thanks again for an awesome time on Saturday. I'm continually blown away by how generous and awesome you all are, along with your patience as we work through the process of refining how we do releases. Most people I've talked to felt the release went really well, but I'd still love to get your feedback on how it can be better. As the #WHALEZBRO description reveals, we will have Elijah Craig 12 La Muerta this year, along with regular La Muerta and 3 other variants. The variants will all be brewery only, so we expect Dia de La Muerta (11/7/2015) this year to be bigger than ever.

Some ideas I've had to make the bottleshare and release more effective:

    1) Since it will be in November and the weather will be cooler, we can open up additional space in the brewery itself for the bottle share.
    2) Begin bottle sales an hour earlier
    3) Have beer stations apart from main registers to buy beer when bottle sales start
    4) Add at least one more register

Please give me your feedback, positive or negative, on how we can make things better - thanks!

    Scott

First, thanks for a great event. I like all of those ideas.

It was difficult to hear you at times when using the megaphone (just acoustics of the building I think). For the sales line, it might help to have a "Now Serving: Group B" sign up on the TV or something (a low-tech poster would suffice). It could also help if you could pipe announcements through the speakers that were playing music.

Cash only would make the line move faster.

Not that it matters to me since I'm usually one of the first people in line. Lol

Or make it a ticketed event and include x number of bottles with the ticket. That way all the bottle sales happen in advance and you could just hand people bottles upon entry.

This was an incredibly well put together event Scott, I heavily commend you for running such an awesome release. I had almost forgotten how close the community from around the state was due to a dwindling amount of events just like this happening. Great to see that Freetail still embraces and celebrates everyone getting together and for that I thank you.

Love my pink shirt and the Berliner was yummy! See you all again soon!
