Small Town Brewery controversy

    Apparently, someone late last year filed a complaint with the Illinois Liquor Control Commission, against Small Town Brewery in Wauconda Il, over their Root Beer beers. It was rumoured that it was not really beer, but a mix of root beer and grain alcohol, or what have you. Anyway, the Commission studied the issue, checked the STB's beer recipes filed with the Federal TTB, and dismissed the complaint against STB early this month, according to a statement from STB.

    So that should settle the matter. Small Town's Root Beer beers- are beers.

    Glad to see common sense prevailed on this, is there any news on bottles of this?

    As I understand it, STB and Church Street Brewing, among other locals, are looking to use the services of "gypsy bottlers".

    What idiot would just come up with unsubstantiated accusations like that. Jeeeeez.

    Great news. It IS really easy to taste this and think it may not really be beer, though.

    Im pretty sure they use champagne yeast to get the high grav.
