Anyone ever do a SMaSH with Munich/Hallertau Mittelfruh or a Munich/Cascade? (Us-05 for both) 12-14 lbs Munich in each.8 oz hops, 2 oz at 60 the rest continually from 15 min to flameout Love me some Munich. It works so well with anything I try it with.
Well a smash Munich/Hallertau is a straight up Munich dunkel where you are just varying the BU:GU. A dry Munich cascade would be delicious. In my best Ben Stiller from Starsky and Hutch..."do it"..."do it".
Is @AlCaponeJunior out of internet data plan? I thought for sure he would have great ideas and thoughts on this thread.
I was about to try a Munich/citra as my next brew. Was thinking about a 50/50 s-04/05. Please post how yours turns out. I am about to bottle a single hops cascade (first batch). Hope it is good.
no my plan is still turned on. honestly I have zero idea at all why I was unable to access and post on this website for however long it's been. I'd like to blame windows 8, given that it's total crap, but in this particular case that was not the cause. (possibly a bit late but...) Munich/citra will come out GREAT, no doubt. I'd skip the mixed yeasts tho, just use US-05. I think the S-04 may add character that takes away from the smashiness of your beer.
Single Malt and Single Hop beer..http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/how-to-brew/keeping-it-simple-with-smash-brewing/
Looks like very yummy to me, those late hop additions will counteract Munich maltiness, I would mash it at 150 F and dry hop with 1.5 oz Saaz. Good luck !
