Their loss. I usually put a bottle in on a trade. Usually just as a toss-in extra. No one has yet said it was anything less than delicious and a major surprise.

Just curious, what makes OE ok in your opinion? I think it's fantastic.

Speaking of Bourbon OE, can anyone tell me if there is any left at eather location? Or is it long gone by now.

That last email that went out didn't have it listed on the bottles available section. Looks like it hasn't shown up on an email since October.
It's usually released in April/May. You might have to wait until then for the new batch and hope they put older vintages up also (basically what they do for IW also). Or wait for a cellar sale.

QFT. Cinnamon was straight DeKuyper Hot Damn schnapps.

Long gone, but should be back in the spring time.

I cracked a Cinammon Vanilla tonight. Some of you should really think about getting your Cicerone certification. Cinammon schnapps? A mess? Your palates are much more refined than mine.
Nose: A bit of vanilla and a bit of cinammon. Naturally as it warmed, it enhanced.
Taste: Definetly cinammon on the back end and a touch of vanilla.
This in no way took away from the original beer. Just what it was. A variant.
Maybe draft and bottle differed that much.
I met some cool people and got to talk to some Smog staff while waiting in line.
Am I glad I got the variants? Yup.

My thoughts about it on tap were that initially it tasted like a cinnamon sugared donut, which VERY quickly dissolved into Big Red gum, and not in a good way. I still think the original IW was the best one of the four on tap.

The question wasn't asked to me, but I'm not a huge Bourbon O.E. fan either. Every time I've tasted it, I get...bourbon. I'd probably just like to drink bourbon instead. That being said, we recently had a batch 1. I thought it was tasty, so maybe I just haven't given it another chance since my first encounter.

I can't envision a scenario when big red gum would be a good thing in a beer

Got to try the 3 variants on tap last night. Thought the vanilla and cinnamon was good, but that the two flavors worked against each other. Would probably have preferred a straight vanilla version or a cinnamon and cacao version. The hazelnut and cacao was my favorite of the 3, though the hazelnut was quite strong and it tasted like they maybe used a hazelnut flavoring. Red wine BA was nice, but I still prefer regular IW. Grabbed 6 bottles. Love Smog City. Keep up the good work.

Did it look like they still had plenty of regular IW? Going to stop by tomorrow.

Thanks, grabbed a few yesterday. Drinking one now and it’s great. Surprised people sleep on this beer.

Their taproom has a pretty consistent crowd and they make pretty solid beer. Seems like a recipe for success

I'm hearing, from a pretty good authority, that there is another tap room going up soon as well. In the similar vein of LB and Glendora. Tap room in a market/restaurant type place.

Anybody doing the VIP ticket for the anniversary?
