Did it last year. Jonathan and Laurie are awesome and their beers are wonderful so I don't mind giving them extra money for VIP. First couple hours were nice and chill. Got a cool glass out of it, too. Unfortunately I just have too much going on this year and won't be able to make it.

Maybe the Steelcraft in Bellflower? They're already in Steelcraft LB though and Beachwood will be in Steelcraft Garden Grove.

A very nice article (Q&A) in April's Beer Paper LA on Smog City's Porter & Laurie. 7 years? Man, time has flown by. I think when Smog City opened up there were 15 or 17 brewery's in the LA area. Today? 75. Anyways if you get a chance to read April's Beer Paper LA read it.
Yes I do read once in a while. :stuck_out_tongue:

A little late in the game. . . . .6pk of Porter, IPA and Squirrel have finally arrived. It took them a year to figure it out. Maybe they should of did the can thing instead of bottles?

Don't really get this move either. These releases in six pack bottles would've been epic if it happened 4 years ago.

I notice quiet a few breweries who are very loyal and heavily invested, maybe to a fault, in their core flagship beers. Three Weavers, which is in my neck of the woods, is the same way.. Even though SN has their Pale Ale, Bells with Two Hearted, New Belgium with Fat Tire, etc. Not sure if flagship beers by local breweries works in this climate. Maybe I'm wrong. I'll definitely cop a sixer of the Sabre Tooth Squirrel when I come across it though.

6packs of Gorilla and Lil Bo Pils will be in my fridge frequently. Those are great beers. Once they're in my fridge, I don't particularly care if they're in bottles or cans

I hear you on this but the older I get the more I crave simpler styles so I welcome the change. I mostly stayed away from these packaged beers bc of the overpriced format they were packaged in. In decently priced six packs, I’ll definitely be grabbing some Little Bo Pils, Coffee Porter and Squirel more often. Kinda like when El Segundo went to 6 packs. Those stubbies spend a good deal of time in my fridge.

I bought a 6pk last week of the Smog City IPA that was bottled 5/8/18. Stuff was WCIPA legit, very nice and a reasonable price of 12.99.

I just tried Is Ticking Clock tonight at tony’s DA. It was all coffee for me, no coconut. Light barrel. Reminded me of KBS. Maybe slightly better but almost the same. Hopefully this was just a sneak peak and the final product has noticeable coconut.

Yeah, I was hyped on BBA coffee porter, but felt it was too light on coffee and BBA presence.

Ticking Clock tasting pretty delish. Coconut taste seems a bit less than last year, but maybe was toasted vs fresh? Still, easy buy 4. Can’t believe there was little line and not more people here.

A lot of us were in Paso Robles this weekend.

Did it sell out or do they still have bottles?

They posted last night that they had quite a few left. Enough to send some to Steelcraft (hitting Tuesday). I'm planning on heading over to the Torrance room tonight to try and get a couple of bottles.

I went last night about 9 to pick up a few bottles of Is Clock Ticking.. There was only a few left in the fridge, but the girl working said they had more in the back.
My thoughts? I enjoyed the hell out of the taster I had. I thought it was nicely balanced. Between the barrel, the coffee and the coconut, none of them fought each other. The coconut was more along a sweetness than like a Death By Coconut coconut. And I thought the mouthfeel was excellent. I liked this a lot more than the BBA Coffee Porter they put out a while back. If I hadn't blown my booze budget on my wife's surprise party, I would gotten my 4 max and had her get a few also. Ended up with 2. Probably have one this weekend and then pop one around the holidays. I could see the coffee maybe not lasting past that.

How is the availability of "Is Clock Ticking"? Did it sell out? Wondering if its worth a drive down to Torrance this weekend to pick up a few bottles.

I've heard good things about this, but haven't seen it sell out. But they are dropping 2 new sours and Bourbon OE this weekend, so that's reason enough to drop in.
