I don't know how far reaching their distribution is, but Smoking Wood from The Bruery is pretty good.

Deschutes class of '88 was solid. I think that was with Great Lakes.

    Alaska was was good too.

My faves were already mentioned- Alaskan (the best) and Captain Lawrence. I also like Lavery Belfast Black, though that one is lightly smoky like the Stone. In any event, I don't think you can get any of them in Maryland, but they are good to make note of for future reference.

Here's something I like to do when there aren't any smoked porters available-

These rock! You can even balance the smoke to your own preferred blend.

Alaskan is great but you have to age it at least a year before it gets good.

Surly's Smoke is fabulous. Of course, I believe it's only brewed one month of the year.

I second the Deshutes/Great Lakes Class of 88 collaboration smoked imperial porter. If you want the smoke, this brings it hard and smokey.

Alaskan and Stone are the best for my money - otherwise I'm a smoke lager guy.

Captain Lawrence Smoked Porter was dreadfully dry and senseless

Another vote on the Deschutes/Great lakes Class of '88 collab
I felt like I was drinking nothing but smoked meats in liquid form with a medium bodied porter mouthfeel.

Smoking Wood from the Bruery changed my mind about smoked beers for the better.

Victory Otto. Not sure if they still make it. The Otto in oak was great too but I think a one time thing.
Not sure how the barrel would be if you found one now.

    Enjoy
