Doing a smoky mountains vacation with the family. Driving to Chattanooga TN from STL and staying two nights (8/9-8/10). Then driving to Cherokee NC for two nights (8/11-8/12). Then Ashville NC one night (8/13) Then to Pigeon forge/Gatlinburg area for two nights (8/14-8/15) My wife has planned most of our stops for the trip, but is letting me pick the Ashville agenda. Looking for all recommendations regarding food and drink. Also anything else to pass the time. Only one night (Wednesday). What should we do?!
Noticed you are into heavier dark brews so maybe Burial Forestry Camp for some to go bottles if you enjoy adjunct stouts. The draft menu covers a handful of styles. Dinner food menu is small but should offer something for everyone. They have tours at the Camp as well but not sure times. Have heard the tours are good. Sierra Nevada Mills River (15-20 minutes from Asheville) is always another option. Solid food and beer variety, tours likely available that day. It's fun to walk thru the production/"museum" side with a pint in your hand Lots of other local places to choose from in the summer, most have food trucks in August so it's a matter of your beer desires. Cheers! Tom
Wicked Weed Funkatorium was pretty cool. Green man brewing/Dirty Jacks is pretty chill too (very close to Burial). And I second Burial, that is a must go to.
Asheville Brewing & Pizza Co. is a good family location, and it's on the South Slope, so you can make another brewery stop or two after feeding everyone.
