This Friday (11/15) at 4pm, Smuttynose will be opening its doors to release a new Short Batch beer called Bouncy House. It's a low abv, hoppy, American ale. If you tried the ParadoX Short Batch earlier this year, you know the vein we're mining. When you arrive Friday we'll have samples of Bouncy House on tap and a limited amount (15 cases) of 22 ounce bottles for sale at $3 each. The thing is, we really want to know what you think about the beer. Bouncy House will join our year-round lineup in 2014 and your feedback is very important in finalizing the recipe. So please stop by, have a beer and let us know what you think. If you're tweeting, please use the #bouncyhouse hashtag. If you're checking in Bouncy House on Untappd, please leave a comment. Facebook and email are also excellent ways to tell us what's on your mind and we do want to hear from you. Cheers, JT
How about Saturday? Do you think bottles will still be available at the brewery then? Can you buy bottles from the brewery without doing the tour?
We can update what's left after Friday, FLM, and you can always stop in to buy beers, regardless of your tour status. You can safely assume we're available for retail sales M-F from 9-4, in addition to our tour hours on Friday (5:30 to 7) and Saturday (noon until 3pm).
Just want to pop in and say that Smutty has a great tour. Is the new brewery up and running yet or are the sales still out of the area where you guys keep the tools?
Thanks for the kind nod, amp138. The brewery is getting closer but it's not there yet. We expect the new brew house and bottle filler/rinser/labeller to arrive at the end of the month. Then installation and commissioning will begin, but we're not entirely sure when that'll be complete. Updates will come through our blog and social media. There is a webcam pointed at the space where the brew house will be so you can follow the progress. It's up at the top of our homepage.
Agreed--Smuttynose does have a great tour. It's probably my favorite brewery tour, and certainly the one I've gone on more times than any other. I'm excited about the new brewery, but I'll miss the crazy, bursting-at-the-seams original home.
